WSU has had NUMEROUS awards thus far in the season, and the national awards are just coming out. I think a thread is needed to keep track.

WSU was 9-0 in the non-con plus 4-0 in the CBE tournament.

All-Tourney team included Cleanthony Early and Ron Baker. Ron Baker was the MVP.

WSU was 18-0 in MVC games.

Darius Carter was on the All New-comer team and All-Bench Team.

Fred VanVleet was on the most improved team and All-Defense Team.

Tekele Cotton was Defensive POY and Second Team All-MVC.

Fred VanVleet, Cleanthony Early, and Ron Baker were First Team All-MVC.

Fred VanVleet was POY.

Gregg Marshall was COY.

WSU was 3-0 in the MVC Tournament.

Cleanthony Early and Fred VanVleet were all tournament team. Tekele Cotton was Most Outstanding Player.

I am simply a fan of my Evansville Purple Aces, a conference opponent to the WSU Shockers, so my posted accolade here pales in comparison, but I believe that a great compliment to the Shockers goes to the entire team....and the coaches....for the Tenacity Award...I think that each member of the team showed great tenacity each time they set foot on the court....focus, determination, supreme effort...in defending, in rebounding, in stepping into passing lanes to grab the ball and head down the floor to score, in focusing on secure passing, prepared shooting, and just plain ol' tenacious possession of the basketball, including putting it into the basket.

There are individual "stars" but the real star potential of the team is the level at which each man plays, and the drive to win.

Congratulations to the Shockers....I will be pulling for you to win it all and show the smug, t.v. non-believers that mid-major is an obsolete term!

Next year, look out...the Aces have learned a lot this year...much from playing you guys....we are fast learners; we'll be older and better! :) But for now, GO<,SHOCKERS!

Classy Post! Evansville has a two headed monster to build around for the next two years! Good luck.
