NCAA tournament discussion - Friday March 21

Shockers tipoff at 6:10, but other games are now underway. I hate that UNC and/or Duke get to play in Raleigh or Greensboro every year it seems.

Evansville's win over Mercer just became a lot more impressive. Mercer just knocked Duke out of the NCAA tournament. Funny stuff! :o

Regardless of fan bases, where you play etc..etc...you have to show up and win. Mercer looked pretty dangged good to me.

Wichita State giving Cal Poly a good ole fashioned beat down. It's good to be the one seed!

The one seed hasn't seemed to help Florida, Arizona, or Virginia yet.

Cal Poly only scored above 20 because of our bench.

Man. Every single 1 seed except WSU ended up in a battle their first game. The minutes distribution for WSU compared to Florida, Arizona, and Virginia was ridiculous.

WSU also probably has the toughest round of 32 game, but it'll be interesting to see if the other three 1 seeds are impacted in their next game by the unexpected difficulty and minutes required.

Cotton played his lowest minutes total since Emporia State. Early tied for his fourth lowest total of the season. Baker and FVV played more, but still well under the season average. Should be rested for a Kentucky team that played three games last week and had to play a ton of minutes to get by K-State -- four guys over 33 minutes.

The Shox looked razor sharp. They have obviously been good all year but I think they are playing their best right now. Early was just unstoppable in the 1st half.

I think they will handle KY. But after watching KY / K state game that big KY frontline is worrisome. Randle is playing much better than earlier in the year. It will be interesting to see how Early, Lufile, and Carter stack up.

I say Shox pull away late for an 8 point win.

I agree that they look the best they have in a while. Tekele Cotton especially is ridiculous in the way he heats up come February/March ... shooting something around 50% from three since late January, similar to what he did last year. The bigs are playing better as well.

Randle's definitely going to be a handful, but I think he's going to have a relatively rough time after playing 35 minutes today with us rotating through so many fresh legs in the post. I'll be surprised if he isn't pushing a double-double, though.

I'm glad the tournaments started so we can finally get past the schedule argument and just see how good WSU is on the court. Interesting reading comments from people that haven't had much of a chance to see them play. My favorite comment I've seen today was from a UConn fan: "WSU just plays like they got kicked in the balls by a polar bear and are out to beat it up with the Bear's leg."

That game still left me wondering how good we are. Need to shoot better than 31% from 3 to win on Sunday.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.
