2015-16 FOY and NOY nominees

I will get the voting opened for MVC Freshman and Newcomer of the Year in the next several days. Here is your chance to nominate players you believe will be considered for the award by year's end. After reviewing your suggestions, we will list 10 or so players to vote on for the preseason honors.

For WSU my votes are:
FOY: Mcduffie and Shamet (and possibly Hamilton)
NOY: Frankamp and Grady

NOY: Willie Wiley (UE)

I don't think Harris Brown or Sergej Vucetic will get the minutes to be considered for FOY / NOY.

I think the only Rambler who will get enough minutes to be considered is Maurice Kirby (NOY), who could be a starter. Loyola only has one freshman on the roster.

Some foy candidates

Scottie James-physically advanced on a poor team
Joel Okafor- really like his game, tough pg that should lead well from day one
Billy Wampler- drake has to have some wings play and he has some talent to produce
Keyshawn Evans- very talented guard playing on a forward heavy team. Should see big minutes on a good team.
Emondre Rickman- Super athletic. With bell out should start and be defensive presence for a top 5 team.
O. Church- forgot first name but this
kid can sky! Probably a little too raw to win. The minutes are available though.

Overall not a great freshman class. The wichita kids are the most talented but won't get the minutes to win the award.

I'll be a little more specific about WSU

FoY: Shamet. McDuffie is more likely to take a RS than get enough minutes to get votes. The Shox are absolutely loaded at the 3/4 (McDuffie's position). McDuffie's also a little light (180) for his height (6'8").

NoY: Grady. Frankamp will be playing behind Baker. He might be a combo and also be playing behind VanVleet. Playing behind 2 AA's isn't a good setup for getting NoY votes.

This is most likely the case, but if Frankamp and McDuffie can get the minutes, they will make a run at the NCOY/FOY teams.

NOY: Kale Abrahamson, Graham Woodward
FOY: Dominik Olejniczak, Billy Wampler
