This is clearly written from a "pro" Mizzou standpoint. But do Aces people have any further insight?

The self-righteousness extinguishes the author's credibility. His evidence is exclusively exceptions to the rule. This article would get teared up if it was peer-reviewed.

There's already 4 pages on our board if anyone is interested. I will just summarize.

P5 school plucks transfer from MVC school. The P5 school feels as such, they are above transfer rules, and expects the rule to be waived.

Rule is not waived. P5 school beat writer posts the "anonymous source" as citing it's UE's fault, and decries the school as being petty.

P5 school fans goes bezerk, yet show no concern over a P5 transfer being held out a year at the same MVC school.

Mizzou likes to think that they are God's gift to college athletics. Not surprised to see this kind of reaction from them.

Dru Smith was leaving the Aces even if Marty
was the coach or not.I know this for a fact.So it's a cop out
saying he left because of Marty's firing.

This a cop out chicken crap answer mid mid majir schools use. See Todd Golden's Twitter rant on it yesterday. He nailed it. Evansville - or any school denying these - are chicken bleep and completely hypocritical

A few key tweets he made that I love

On that note, I eagerly await the inevitable "TRANSFERS KILL MID-MAJORS" responses. It's doesn't stand up to scrutiny. I counted 28 D-I transfers on MVC rosters. Three MVC schools have *five* D-1 transfers, the Sycamores have four, and UE itself has two, including a KU transfer.

Two of the five-member Preseason MVC First Team are transfers, including MVC PPOY Clayton Custer (ex-Iowa St.). MVC contender Illinois State's best player is a transfer. ISU's Neese & Christian Williams - expected contributors - are transfers. Valuable transfers dot MVC rosters.

Bottom line, to me anyway, and I've stated this many times, is that if coaches can break contracts and leave whenever they want without penalty? So should the players. Apart from that? Players shouldn't be treated any differently than a regular student who decides to transfer.

We can't, in the MVC take all these transfers and petition the NCAA for immediate eligibility and get even kind if huffy about it and then at the same time throw a temper tantrum when one of yours wants to leave.

I believe Todd Golden has it wrong
When UE released Dru for the transfer, they no longer have any say in his collegiate situation. it is Mizzou burden not UE to get the waiver

Evansville doesn't HAVE to help but you look damn bad not helping. Petty, small time crap.

UNI went out of their way to thank Pepperdine for all their help in getting Trae Berhow eligible immediately and there are dozen of examples of the same across the country.

Apparently UE has chosen to be petty and small instead of doing what's best for the kid...

First of all, the only confirmation we have that UE is blocking this, is an "unnamed source".

After you weed through Unifans and Goldens rant, I would say most UE fans are not arguing their endpoint...eliminate the transfer rule. The one thing I will say on that, is I don't think you can use Golden's data as it is based on current rules. Do you really think it is illogical to expect an increase in transfers if the rule is lifted? But that is a discussion for another day.

The issue comes down to consistency, or lack of it. Let's say that somehow UE is blocking this. I also believe that once we granted his release, it was out of our hands, but let's play along with this. The argument is being made that Dru and Mizzou are being punished, and denied a fresh start. IF that is the case, then shouldn't the same argument be made that so is UE? As a result of two starters transferring, UE is left very shorthanded. It is necessary to go and get replacements. Now (3) of those very replacements are being denied an opportunity to play this year by the NCAA. So Dru, by his own actions, should be allowed to play, but the replacements we had to get must sit a year. The only way this makes any sense is to say Marty was unjustifiably terminated...and I don't think anyone can argue that.
