Murray state sold out on tv

Watching on espnu and the environment is insane. Near 9k sellout...on a weeknight. Reminds me of our historic crowd Saturday to honor the ‘79 team against Loyola. Of course Morant got hurt a minute in.

I remember when these environments were commonplace in the Valley. Here’s one in our backyard.

I also remember the clips on twitter last year when Murray fans filled Ford Center’s lower bowl.

Enough arguing over pennies and accepting a 13th rated conference. That’s such small time, defeatist thinking. Murray adds excitement and emotion. They inject passion into this league. Make St Louis loud again.

Anyone have contacts for the Presidents? I can’t sit on my hands and watch idly with regret anymore. We have a long history of adding great schools most recently with Loyola and Valpo...let’s finish it off. Passion is contagious.

Adding Murray has made sense year after year after year- Plain as the ass on a goat. I could jump from goats asses to presidents but I'll leave that to others.

This is no paper sellout either. I can’t find an empty seat on my screen. You’d have to be comatose to not want this in your league.

This looks like one of those Stanley Cup playoff games. People standing. Flags waving. Sea of Yellow.

Type of environment you need to be perceived with the A10 or MWC.

1818 Chouteau Ave in St Louis, MO needs a wakeup call. Fast.

Just got home, turned this on and noticed fans standing in the stairway because seats aren’t available. Unreal.

Get this school in a better league.

Just a little reality here; know that I'm in favor of Murray State in the Valley. But some of you are just a little ridiculous. Heading into tonight with a League leading team and an NBA lottery pick playing, Murray is averaging just under 4,000 a game in home attendance. that would rank 7th in the Valley right now.

We were packed in a-holes to elbows last night.

Capacity of the CFSB Center is 8,600 and the announced attendance was 8,969.

We will take Murray, but Grand Canyon can stay in the WAC. Wichita will need some new rivals when they eventually have to join that league once the AAC folds.... Also New Mexico State will eventually get the bid to join the Mountain West....

To add on to what Bear said. I am okay with adding Murray. The results on the court are excellent. But do they really travel that well? Their average attendance was less than the Valley average last year. Loyola had awful attendance when the MVC took them - happy to see a few sellouts there now - but the market is a lot lot bigger. Valpo wasn't exactly setting the world on fire attendance wise in 17-18 either (less than 3K - hopefully the numbers have gone up this year).

Last year the A10 leapt the Valley in attendance #s because we lost Wichita's 10K a game. Creighton, who is often in the top 25 nationally, hurt a ton when they left.

I'm legitimately asking, is there any merit to Racer's fans actually travelling? Because Murray would be the smallest population area in the Valley - by a lot. And their home attendance numbers don't really move the needle for a conference that was 10th in attendance last year. Not sure there are any better options out there. But I also wouldn't be opposed to waiting.

I'm not sure there are any schools in mid-size/large metros that would be looking to join the valley that would be a good fit. WSU and Creighton were the obvious home runs because they are the only games in town. UW-Milwaukee fits the profile on paper, until you realize that Marquette is and always will be the only game in town. Plus Marquette plays their games in a brand new NBA arena. They probably have the nicest arena in the country right now out of any NCAA team. Obviously SLU and Dayton are pipe dreams but the MVC would be a major step down for them. No way that happens.

I have been to two tournaments with Murray State in the last several years, one in Fort Myers and Nashville TN. I thought they travel real well. Actually Murray State fans made the tournament fun in Nashville. They were the closest geographically, but still had a good and lively crowd. Valpo was at the Nashville Tournament also. Unless the location is close I don't think you see many visiting team fans, at least over the years we haven't seen that many.
