Muller had something similar to say following the game at Bradley but it was limited to discussion of the technical he received for raising his hands in disapproval of a charge call on Milik. He didn't say a word. Just raised his hands and got a T.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a public announcement of whatever fine he got.

From what I could tell, McCarty was right. Didn't UE get called for five consecutive moving screens or something?

There is no fine, just the 1 game suspension.

McCarty didn't say anything all of us haven't felt for years. He could have thrown a public tantrum inside Knapp and just received a technical. Instead, he calmly gives his opinion to our PBP guy, and Elgin slams a suspension on him.

At some point, Elgin needs to quit shooting the messengers and address this issue. The question isn't whether we could have beaten Drake that night, rather why has horrendously inconsistent officiating been allowed to go on for so long in this league? I think everyone agrees Drake was the better team on Wednesday.

Officiating nationwide is an issue, its not a Valley issue. We are drawing from the same pool the Big 12 and Sun Belt do. We've got an aging crop of officials and no interest from younger people to move in because officiating high school games is so awful. The national high school shortage is starting to catch up to the college level.

That's why you have good officials like John Higgins working schedules that no human can possibly be expected to work and do a good job. Higgins schedule last week was Corvallis-Cheyenne-Ames-Des Moines-Chapel Hill-Las Vegas-Fort Collins. How can you not be exhausted from the travel alone?

Its only going to get worse.

The most interesting thing about this is I would rate Evansville's arena as one of the hardest places for the opposing teams to get a call in this league.

Nobody is going to get favorable calls on the road, or at least it will only happen when you are playing at a much superior level and take the crowd out of the game. Wasn't there an ESPN article like 8 years ago that talked about calls for the home team being like a 5 or 6 point advantage or something along those lines?

And not just in basketball. the NFL had a bit of an adventure the last two weeks with its officiating.
I heard one of the sports radio blowhards talking about how the Saints weren't saying much to criticize the officials, so it must not have been that bad. But in reality the Saints know Roger Goodell is much happier to issue fines and suspensions than Doug Elgin!

I can totally see it. I'm bad at estimating age, from 10 rows up in Ford Center, but it doesn't seem like we ever see refs under age 40.

Good God. That's terrible.

Randy Heimerman, who officiated the DU-UE game on Wednesday has done 13 games so far this month. After the DU game, he booked it to Georgia Southern for a Thursday game. The previous weekend he did two games in Washington state. I'm guessing all driving, since I don't think officiating pays well enough to fly from Spokane to Seattle to Des Moines to Augusta, GA.

I am 100% against coaches not being able to hold refs accountable.

Watching the Dan T in our game. I thought the T was on MY for a elbow after the play was over. Dans actions after the T imo he should have got another and been tossed.

Muller skirts suspension but joins the McCarty Party in timeout.

Given how the season has gone for the league, digging through postgame interviews is not where I’d focus my energy.

Officials typically get the equivalent to same day airfare for travel expenses. Many drive however, to rake in the extra $$.
