SIU New Logo

General consensus I’m hearing down around Carbondale is positive. Haven’t had much to be excited about this year but I think this design is perfect. Just have to fork over the dough to update my wardrobe.

A mix between the last two logos. Upgrade. The last logo from 99 on was horrible.

Won't be as expensive as when we went from the Southwest Missouri State University brand, then to SMS, and finally to Missouri State. At least the SIU on stuff is still relevant. While t-shirts aren't that bad, jackets and sweaters get expensive, but it's all the the little decorative stuff from stickers to license plates to banners etc. that in the end nickle and dime ya to death.

Agreed, I was just thinking that I am glad that the old stuff will still be appropriate to wear. Now everything I have will be retro gear and I can slowly add in some of the new stuff as time goes along. I am a big fan of the logo though. I saw it a couple weeks ago and did not care for it much, but it has grown on me and now I really like it. Now time for some winning in the athletic department.

I apologize for the tangent from the topic here, but BEARZ77 how do MSU fans feel about the bear logo on the court being so huge? My wife and I always comment on it's size each time we watch one of MSU's home games. And not in a good way. Just curious how the home fans feel about it.

I can't speak for other Bears fans, but I love the Bearhead logo so much that the more it's used and the bigger it is - the better. And if having a giant centercourt logo keeps us from ever getting one of those dumb gimmick court designs, all the better.

In regards to the SIU logo, it's decent enough. It's not my favorite logo ever, but the last one, quite frankly, was super ugly while this one is modern, clean, and doesn't look similar to other dog related logos in college sports. That's one of the reasons I like the Bearhead logo so much - "Bears" is a pretty common mascot, but our logo isn't just some random bear that looks like every other college team that goes by the Bears/Bruins. Salukis may be one of a kind, but dogs in general aren't unique as far as mascots go, but this logo is uniquely SIU.

I will say, though, that the video SIU released that went through all their past logos was cool. The first two logos that SIU had that were just letters overlayed with each other are my favorite. Actually, from 1888 to 1963 SIU logos were pretty great. Then the worst one is the one from 1977 to 2000.

Rebranding does suck for the sake of wardrobe... but look at this this way! Today's fashion is all about "retro" and in a few years all of your old saluki branded stuff with be cool!

The huge Bears logo has never really bothered me. I have always loved our logo, so I like it, but I have heard many fans comment on it in a joking way...So probably ought to scale it back a little, but I don't hate it.

The SIU logo...Thought it was awful last night, but it is growing on me a little today. It is def an upgrade, and very unique, which can help with brand identity if they can get that program going again. I second the "hype" video that they had for the unveiling. It was awesome. Not that I remember any of those logos prior to the truly awful one they had in the 90's, but just the fact that the video hyped me up and made me excited for a school I have always seen as a rival. Love this conference!

The current SIU logo is the second worst in the Valley. Good for them because the new one is good. Indiana State's insistence of using the state as a fat I is the worst in the Valley.

This is a really good way of putting it. Feeling hyped about the new logo for a school you see as a traditional rival means the athletics and marketing departments did a good job.
