Serious question for all you Valley fans.

I actually had a fan of a big money conference school day that “99.6% of teams fly to games unless it’s really close”

I know for a fact that the OVC is a bus league, with very few games (generally OOC or Tournament games) being flown to by the teams. I’m wondering about Valley teams and how they travel. Is the MVC a flying league? A bus league? Something in between?

Thanks.

Each school is different.

UNI charters flights everywhere except Des Moines and Peoria. Occasionally, they'll bus to Normal or Chicago if its a weekend.

SIU flies to UNI and Drake. Everywhere else (in the conference) by bus.

Drake was budgeted six chartered flights this year, and I think they flew commercial to Vegas. Their flights were to Colorado, SIU, Evansville, LUC, Indiana State, and MSU I think. Everything else was bus (including Valpo, which I thought was odd).

Our AD was on record recently saying it was a high priority to increase the amount of flights the team can take

I think Loyola busses to Valpo, ISUr and Bradley. Flies otherwise.

I have no idea on Bradley, but being so centrally located, I would think they would probably bus to most.

1 hour or less - ISUr
3 hours or less - Loyola, Valpo, ISUb
4 hours or less - UNI, Drake, SIU
5 hours or less - UE
6 hours or less - MSU

I'm pretty sure ILST flies to Mo State and Drake. I think Cedar Falls too. Not 100% sure.

UE typically travels by plane for trips to Iowa and sometimes Chicago/Valpo/Springfield, depending on how much of the travel budget was used in the non-con. To my knowledge they always bus to Terre Haute, Carbondale, Peoria and Normal.
