Evansville Rebrand?

I didn't hear anything leading up to this. Did Evansville fans know this was coming? I have mixed feelings about the new logos, but I do like the Aces script.

The success of the rebranding will depend on which logo they assign as primary.

The pre-2001 logo (the one in sixth ace’s avatar) is a top 5 college sports logo of all-time. It’s so recognizable UE gained fans on that alone.

If they use the new version of the purple guy (only flaw being the card should have “A” in the corners), it’s reminiscent of an iconic logo. The image depicts the team’s nickname and symbolizes what’s unique to Evansville (gambler).

If they use the script logo, it’s generic and unimaginative.

Huh, I guess I just really love classic looks, and the Aces script looks classic and classy. I'm entrenched in the position that I really wish Missouri State had a modern script logo to utilize.

But based on what's happening on twitter, it looks like the primary logo for athletics is the UE with the orange outline. The purple and white UE looks to be the logo for the entire university (Evansville.edu has that logo on its page). The Ace Purple seems to be a secondary mascot logo, and the script Aces logo seems to be a secondary wordmark.

The river boat gambler is something that needed to return, overall this is a very good rebrand.
