Evansville almost in top 25!

Received 43 votes in the AP poll which is good enough for 30th. Keep it up and the Valley could have a top 25 team...and even two bids if things work out perfectly.

Ouch what? We lost by 2 at home to a solid SMU team while Cunliffe suffered from food poisoning. Sucks, but no shame there.

So far, UE has played UK, Ball State, amd SMU. Those teams are a combined 10-2 right now, with UE as the only 2 losses. Besides UK, what's the best win in the valley thus far? I would argue Ball State may be it, they're still a top 100 team in KenPom, though it is early. I would much prefer our schedule than playing various directional state universities, as some have opted to do

I am as happy about the UE win over Kentucky as anybody.... but

Kentucky struggled to beat Utah Valley at Rupp on Monday, winning only by 8 points and hitting 31 out of 34 free throws to do so! They shoot 72% from the line instead of 91% and they lose that game as well.

Foul calls UE vs. Kentucky = Even at 18/18
Foul calls Utah Valley vs Kentucky = Lopsided 24/13

Kentucky starters logged WAY WAY more minutes against Utah Valley to avoid the 2nd upset in a row. 4 starters over 35 minutes. Only 1 starter over 30 minutes against Evansville.

My point, it is a big win that will pay huge dividends for UE and the MVC, but Kentucky is struggling right now and the W should be taken with a grain of salt. Still lots of work left to do, but the future is bright for Evansville.

Not sure I'd factor in SMU's wins, Evansville is the best ranked school they've played.
