Unfortunately the Bulldogs ended the game yesterday with 60% of the starting lineup on the bench with injuries. Might be a much different team next weekend.

Aces up at halftime. Lickliter has them playing better every game.

MVC ran generic Arch Madness + Explore St Louis ads last week.

Now MVC has added the team hotel commercials. Indy St/Loyola switched hotels - didn’t catch the rest.

Gotta think they’re working on a plan for fan attendance. Unless the cardboard cutouts need a hotel to stay at, I’m not sure who else they’re marketing those commercials to.

UE 65-61 over UNI. Aces held UNI to ZERO three pointers. Streak of 665 straight games with a made 3 is over. Can the Aces get a sweep this weekend????

I have no idea how this crazy covid season will turnout along with everybody else. The two back to back games will make this season very interesting. There is one thing though that I would put money on, if I were a betting man. And that is THE ACES WILL NOT FINISH IN LAST PLACE THIS YEAR. They have a coach of the year candidate who is putting together a winning system, and is getting more out of the talent available than anyone could have foreseen.

Bears took down Indiana State 84-74 in first of 2 in Springfield. Bears were up 50-30 at half and maintained a 10-20 point lead the second half. Indiana State got engaged performances by Neece and Key as they went for 40 between them, but Laravia and Williams both were in and out of foul problems and not factors. But the Bears shot 58% for the game & got big performances from Prim [22 pts,11rbs,5assits] and Mosley [ 23 pts, 6 rbs] as they shot a combined 17/25 from the field and Mosley was 3/4 from trey. Most encouraging for me was our two high level jucos both played well as Hervey had 15 including 3/3 treys, and Sharp in his most extensive play since returning from foot surgery had 10 pts, 4 assists and 0 turnovers. The game got pretty physical in the second half as Indiana St was much more aggressive and engaged defensively. Should be a good game tomorrow.

This team is more talented than you'd think by last year's results. We were a team of headcases last season; still plenty of talent. Lick got us to stop panicking.

Aces have enough outside shooting to beat anyone in the Valley. Lack of inside game will doom us against teams like Loyola, but there are plenty of teams we match up well against.

Important game for SIU tonite if they have any thoughts of challenging for a regular season title. Despite the scheduling oddities, I still think it'll take the normal 14-4 -16-2 record to win a championship, so starting 1-3 with a home loss already, really puts you under the gun. I think for a number of teams, bad games will now be bad weekends and really change the course of the race quickly at times. You can understand the 1-3 start for UNI, although you'd think they still have enough talent to be a challenger, Indiana State's 0-4 is less excusable given the high hopes and predictions coming into the season , but I've always seen Lansing as very Hinson-like and not likely to cash in on his talent. I have not been as much on the SIU bandwagon, feeling they were talented but young and probably a year away with still some rosters holes to fill. Obviously Loyola is Loyola, no reason yet to not think Bradley is legit contender, and Drake has clearly established themselves as legit as well. Evansville is a huge surprise with the road win at SIU being the stunner and now we have to wait and see if they can contend elsewhere on the road .

The Bears are about where I expected and still have a lot to prove. The road trip to Valpo is concerning in that we really played poorly against them last year , so I have to see if we've made some adjustments to their system and personnel. But I think we'll be competitive all year and be a handful in STL; Mosley is quickly establishing himself as an elite scorer and Prim is as good as anyone inside. The thing about both is they are both efficient scorers, not requiring 20 shots to do damage, and they also are both willing and excellent passers, making them double tough to defend. We're a bit weak at the power forward position as neither Ridder or Hervey have the strength or size to contend with some league players inside, but both also present some matchup issues as well . With Sharp now healthy , we have a solid backcourt rotation, and we have almost 21 feet of body and 15 fouls behind Prim in Tata/Carper/Scott. Like the fact we're under everyone's radar , but think we're still a work in progress , albeit one with lots of toys.

Good synopsis Bearz77. SIU is not ready to contend. We are one of the youngest teams in all of D1 with D1 experience. I really like what Mullins is doing but this isn’t going to be a quick fix. He wants the core of his team to be high school recruits and that will take time. We aren’t very big and when the one JUCO big we signed was out for the season our chances of an upper division finish in the league took a HUGE hit. Hoping we stay out of Thursday. We aren’t very athletic and we are extremely small not a good combo. Watching other Valley teams play in the past few weals reminds me just how small we are . Our 2 bigs are a true Freshman and D2 transfer. Mullins will get us on the right track it is just going to take time
