Lunardi: WSU in, MSU out

Postby pafan » January 3rd, 2011, 12:27 pm

In today's Bracketology update, Joe Lunardi gives WSU a 12 seed, avoiding the play-in round. He puts MSU on the bubble, the 6th team out.

So, we all agree with him, right?

I think WSU is better than a #12 and the Bears haven't done anything to deserve a spot

Wichita has been in the "others receiving votes" section of the poll all year long. So they would most definitely be better than a 12, at this point.

You must be new to Valley Basketball...I don't think a Valley team as EVER been in the play-in round...so not sure "avoiding" would be the term to use. The only way a a Valley team would play in the play-in round would be if a Thursday team somehow won in St. Louis and I think we all know that's not going to happen.

Not necessarily true with the new play-in round that goes into effect this year....

You're correct, but the rules are different this year. Four automatic qualifiers and four at-large teams will have a play-in game on Tuesday night prior to the Thursday/Friday first round games.

It's the 12th rated conference with no headline teams, 3 games in st.Louis is all that really matters.

It's a one bid league people....unless one of the teams goes 16-2 or something like that and losses in the championship game. Even then I wouldn't feel to whippy about the at large chance.

Yep. There will be two play-in games between 16 seeds and two play-in games between 11 seeds.
