Contrary to the media's reaction to this, I don't have a problem with this move if they think they can upgrade. Do Sycamores fans have a list of names yet?

I think the media and other’ issue with this is more about the resources in conjunction with what Lansing has done. I think Lansing is a super solid coach, there are better but many more that are worse. The main concern is most people don’t think you will find a better coach given the resources ISU has available.

Unless ISU is going to bump up the salary and basketball budget or find a complete diamond in the rough with a young coach, it’s doubtful they find somebody better.

The media likes Lansing because he's a nice guy to them. They did the same thing with Hinson too. Schools shouldn't settle for mediocrity though if they think they can find an upgrade. Lansing's teams have been hovering around mediocrity for 7 straight seasons now. I wish Lansing well but I think the Sycamores should try to do something that makes them a contender.

Personally, I'd like to see Lansing come over to Normal and replace Brian Jones as Associate HC or have Jones demoted and replace Brian Reese on the staff.

Good amount of Lansing t-shirts in ISU’s block this weekend. He’s well liked there.

Lansing’s average KenPom rank (142) over 11 years was 66 spots better than ISU’s budget rank (208).

Their budget isn’t even mediocre in the Valley, maybe they should fix that before firing a coach that got them up to 4th place.

I understand Tree fans frustration with mid tier status, but don’t really see where you’re going yo find a better coach with the facilities and budget available. Honest question - Is it worth it to you to take a chance and maybe have it work, or maybe dive further into mediocrity? Just trying to gauge where frustrations are in Terre Haute.

Upgrade? He was making bottom money in the league. Not sure who is going to be knocking down the door for a $250,000 salary with the facilities and market.
