Multiple reports are out Friday Oklahoma has agreed to a contract with Porter Moser to become the next OU men’s basketball coach.

Moser is the head coach at Loyola-Chicago, where he led the Ramblers to the Final Four in 2018 and the Sweet 16 this season.

That's a shame. I was hoping Barry Hinson would get the OU job.

Sad to see him go. It was fun for Loyola, a team in a major market for the MVC, be relevant nationally.

I have to think the Loyola admin will want to do all they can to keep the “culture” Loyola has built together. Drew Valentine has to be near the top of the list of candidates.

Any chance Krut or Williamson used their extra year and go play B12 ball?

There was a report on the Bearnation board that Loyola offered Moser over 2 million to stay. That's incredible.

Drew Valentine going to be the coach based on a bunch of reports, absolutely sucks losing Porter but he left the place so much better than he found it, and we’re in a good spot with Drew. He’s a big time recruiter and always been a winner with 4 Sweet Sixteens on the bench by age 30.

He acted as our defensive coordinator this year and brought over the .5 second offense the year of the final four. He definitely slid into the mullins role the last two years, I’m sure there’s gonna be some adjustments and growth needed over time, but continuity is huge with what we’ve been able to build.

That's a good hire and it will be very interesting to see if he can keep the train rolling for Loyola. Do you think it will make Krutwig Williamson and Clemons want to come back since they're all familiar with the new head coach? Is there any news on that front?

Not really. As a private institution, Loyola can do whatever they want. I can assure you that there are some well-heeled Chicago alums of Loyola that would be only too happy to donate some highly appreciated stocks, property, etc, they get some tax relief and support the program. Creighton was paying Dana Altman a million a year 15 years ago, when they were still in the Valley.

..................................nah imma say this was a big deal from Loyola.

Regarding seniors staying, no idea! I doubt Krut stays, his stocks never been higher and he should capitalize going pro, if anyone stays my guess is it'd be Clemons. He's only had two years here and has been seriously underrated in my opinion.

I'm rooting for Loyola to maintain what they have built, but did the Valentine hire seem a like a little bit of a knee jerk reaction? There are several pretty good names available that might love to be in a situation like the one currently at Loyola. Tim Miles comes to mind as a guy who had success at a couple of mid-major stops and was in the Big Ten also. Just a thought, interested to hear what everyone thinks.
