Both the Bears and Panthers make major post season tourneys in all 3 of the major sports :

UNI: Football- FCS Playoffs; MBB-NIT; WBB- NIT
MSU:Football- FCS Playoffs; MBB- NIT; WBB- NCAA [Bears also made NCAA soccer tourney]
Good fall/winter sports seasons for both schools.

Other Valley schools also making their presence known in post season:

Drake made postseason in both BB programs[ MBB- CIT; WBB- NIT]
Murray State made postseason in both BB programs[ MBB-NCAA; WBB-NIT]
Belmont made postseason in both BB programs [ MBB-NIT; WBB -NCAA]
Illinois State made post season in VB/WBB [WBB-NCAA; VB-NCAA]
SIU made post season in FB/WBB [ FB- FCS Playoffs; WBB- NIT]

I'm not sure about all the Olympic sports and their post season formats, I know UNI is very good in wrestling, Illinois State in Track and Field and MSU dominates the Valley in Swimming and Diving. Others I'm not sure of.

But a solid year for the MVC ; now we just need to make some hay in the Basketball tourneys the next 2-3 weeks.

UNI is sending 8 wrestlers to the national tournament this weekend, most in over a decade. Legitimate national title contender in Parker Keckeisen at 184 and three other guys with a legitimate chance to be All Americans (Top 8). UNI should finish in the Top 20 after finishing 5th at the Big 12 Championships.

Volleyball should be back to the top of the league next year as well with a HS All American setter coming in and Bobbi Petersen's daughter that started at Texas grad transferring in.

I'd love to see what UNI could do with decent facilities, an even remotely competent AD and any institutional support at all. I'm so jealous that Missouri State really seems to have figured it out administratively.

Yeah but it is so tenuous . What UNI has been able to do is keep their coaches , which is everything at the MM level. We right now have a decent MBB coach , and great FB and WBB coaches, but our WBB Coach especially is a hot commodity. Our soccer program has really been good [ national good] , but our coach just retired , however, his top assistant is in place and helped build so hopefully it will remain at a high level. We were traditionally one of the top 1-3 MVC VB programs and consistent participant in the NCAA Tourney , but had to let our long term coach go[ infractions] 3 years ago and have not made it back yet. Baseball also was a top 1-2 MVC program and consistent NCAA tourney challenger most years, but Guttin is in his like 50TH year and it shows. But anyway, we have great facilities , but coaching is everything at this level.
