NIL in the Postseason

This is a dumb idea that I had but was wondering what everyone else thought.
With NIL being a factor in college basketball and the Drake playing in the CBI this year (they should have been in the NIT, but that is a rant for later), would the CBI have a needed place in college basketball if they offered NIL money and sponsorships? To me, a sponsorship for the tournaments MOP and "prize money" for players on the winning team would help the tournament be able to attract quality teams. The old CIT (whatever it is called now) can go away, but I would like to see the CBI be a quality event IF IT IS DONE CORRECTLY. If not, it can go away too.
Like I said, just a dumb idea I had. I am interested what everyone else thinks.

It’s a consistency/apples-to-apples comparisons of record-keeping for me. I think each team’s record should be final once they’re eliminated from their conference tournament, and only extended with a bid in the NCAA Tournament or NIT.

I think the NIT should expand to 64 teams and EIEIO tournaments abolished.

CBI might survive on this level if they can get Casey's General Store or Purina to cough up some change. The problem with post-season is that the NCAA and the networks have driven these things back on the ESPN board to "other" links and you can't find anything. The local media doesn't care by this point and the shiny object is whether some No. 1 seed might have to go overtime against Mountain Home University, making its first ever tournament.

The CBI is for programs that want to see their kids get a couple more games, even if they don't do anything for recruiting or for the budget. It costs money to play these things and often the fieldhouses they want aren't available. Even the NIT has this problem.

Once you get past the designate 40 teams the NCAA sees as worthy, it's a matter of one mid-major playing another at the venue that is the least offensive.

But if you want to reward players who are in the tournament, then that comes down to whether their athletics departments want to participate. If they say no, they are screwing the kid -- who might hold a grudge.

The CBI expanded this past season and had the event in a nice little arena in Daytona Beach. It’s a fine event.
