I heard Yanny.

Looks like she arrived in January and got promoted to interim in March. Big career break for her.

She has a history of success with fundraising campaigns. I assume she was promoted after the hiring search came up with no one as a good fit. Her fundraising mind will be very much needed for the arena project. A press conference is to be held this .onday.

I'll believe there is actually an arena project when I see it. Until then it's all talk. Sorry to be so negative but Valpo has a lot to prove to and within the MVC. I hope they can start actually doing it this year At least the on court performance in MBB can't get any worse than it's been the past few years right?

At this point shouldn't Valpo be using the money on fixing things or in case the enrollment drops?

The proposed arena project is the last thing on the docket for the school. They first want to renovate their dorms as they are wholey unattractive to incoming freshman. They sold the art to pay for these rennovations. They also are in the final stages of drafting the new nursing building and a fundrasining campaign should be released for that shortly. I don't want to suggest that an arena is 100% coming. Which is why I have tried to use the language proposed rather than just saying new arena. It's all talk with a feasibility study being the only true step taken to say "yes, this is a thing we are doing" there have been many proposals over the years tk get out of the ARC. The most recent being in 2012 when a company approached VU and the city of Valparaiso about purchasing an old factory dome and repurpousing it into a civic center. I do however, note that this most recent campaign is the best effort to actually make good on the claims. The school had improved relations with tbe city and local community. They are attempting to get alumni and donors more involved rather than just to be pay piggies. I do expect a new arena to be built, but it may take a few years to break ground

So if they are doing things this way they can't be too concerned about enrollment.

I am concerned for all the schools in the Valley (except for UIC) and how their falling enrollment will affect their status in the MVC.

SIU has seen steady increases the past 3-4 years. Hopefully, this will be a trend that continues. I hope to have a freshmen Saluki walking the campus in 2025.

Good on both counts. The enrollment cliff is just starting and who knows how all of the schools will be affected.
