Antoine Young or Kwadzo Ahelegbe ?

Postby bluejayfan00 » February 28th, 2011, 6:00 pm

This is a very good question. Who would you rather have? Antoine, or Kwadzo.

Ahelegbe Young
PPG 14.0 13.9
APG 2.9 4.7
RPG 3.1 2.7
3PT%32 31
SPG .5 1
A/T 1.3 2.1
ratio
FT% 78 76
FG% 41 40

I am a Jays fan, so I'm gunna take Antoine. One key stat I did not list was minutes per game, Antoine averages just over 36, and Kwadzo averages almost 31. Antoine has had this kind of season while almost playing every minute of almost every game, and that's amazing. Kwadzo is bigger, so he is a better rebounder. Young's assist to turnover ratio is a point higher, and averages almost 2 more assists.

They are comparable in those stats but if I were to pick one of them to start on my team this weekend I would pick Kwadzo and it would not even be close. We're talking about a guy who has started for two NCAA tournament teams and won an MVC tournament MVP award.

It would be interesting to hear what fans of other schools say. Maybe I am wrong but I would imagine that the majority would pick Kwadzo.

I pick Antoine because he has another year to play while KA's eligibility is up.

This is, of course, based on my assumption that this season is shot for both teams outside of a CIT invitation. :?

PS - we need more smileys on this site.

I'll take the guy that has averaged 23 wins per season over 4 years, has two MVC titles, two MVC tournament titles, an MVC tournament MVP, and has played in 4 NCAA tournament games.

No don't about it that Kwadzo played with great teams, but he was never the best player on those teams. Antoine hasn't been as lucky as Kwadzo when talking about the guys surrounding him on the court, but I just think Antoine is a better player right now, and by the time he graduates, I think everyone will agree that he was a better player.

If you are going to compare their numbers why not compare Odum's too.

Don't know where you got your stats but I went to your school's website and found those above. I'm sure you poached some stats that made your guy look best like conference only but a season's work is a season's work.

I was on ESPN. That's where I got the stats.
