Great Tournament performances

Postby iSASO » March 5th, 2011, 8:46 am

Before today's festivites start, I thought it might be interesting to review some of the best individual tournament performances from each school.

I found a couple from WSU to get things rolling:

* Xavier McDaniel leads the tournament in career scoring average (31.3 points in five games) and rebound average (14.4). He holds the single-game record with 21 rebounds against Southern Illinois in 1985.

* McDaniel scored 34 points on 15-of-19 shooting in the 1985 championship game at Tulsa. He also grabbed 13 rebounds. In a 92-65 semifinal win over Indiana State, McDaniel scored 34 points and Aubrey Sherrod added 26, making 12 of 18 shots.

Yeah the only one I could think of was Mike Menser in 2001. Guy was a great player for ISU back in the day ten years ago exactly lol

Only 2 Drake performances come to mind.....

Lynnrick Rogers scoring 38 to lead the 1-25 Bulldogs (yes, 1-25) to a victory over Wichita State in 1997 and then 2008 run through the tournament culminating with a 30 point victory over Illinois State.

Still remember that game in '97...drove down from DSM, and exchanged high-fives with Dolph after the game. Good times. :)

I remember that Menser game in 2001. He ended up having 24 points in that game, and I think he was named tournament MVP that year also.
