Coaching changes- Arkansas fires Pelphrey w/Marshall mention

Sounds like the Razorbacks want to get Mike Anderson from Missouri. if that occurs, will be interesting to see what else happens.

Rivals boards states Marshall is a candidate:
The most popular name I’ve heard to replace Lowe is Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall. According to a source, two teams are already hot for Marshall and have been poking around his orbit to gauge interest: NC State and Arkansas (where John Pelphrey is on supposedly on thin ice).

Marshall has been on the rise for a few years, having succeeded at Winthrop (where he upset Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA tournament in 2007), and won 20+ games at Wichita State in the last two years (though they’ll miss the NCAA tournament this year after a loss Saturday to Indiana State).

Cuonzo mentioned here:

Issues surrounding John Pelphrey’s recruitment and the Hogs early exit in the SEC tournament could be icing on the cake for his dismissal; therefore, going to take a moment and speculate about potential replacements. Conventional wisdom would say that Mike Anderson is a lock for this job if he wants it; however, he will have a very strong team returning to Missouri and probably harbors bitter feelings towards the way Nolan Richardson’s tenure ended in Fayetteville. Assuming Anderson were to stay put, below are some names that I feel like the Hogs could pursue.

Cuonzo Martin (Missouri State) – Geographically move makes sense and Martin is seen as a great mentor to players. It is evident from watching his Missouri State team’s how hard they play for their coach. Feel like he is a rising star in the coaching fraternity and could save Arkansas some resources that other coaches would command due to where they are in their career.

Yeah, it's a pretty effin' terrible job...I would hope double g would wait for a better job than that, the guy could be a high major head coach...

Great potential, but Nolan set that mother on fire and then ran his Range Rover over it a few times on the way out. They may have to go low-major or assistant, because it's hard to imagine a real quality coach wandering into that one.

Here is what I think happens:
Mike Anderson to Woo Pig Sooie Land
Cuonzo Martin to Missou
Scott Sutton to Missouri State
Barry Hinson to Oral Roberts

The first is very possible. The second is unlikely, but the Cheating Kittens could do worse. The third is impossible, since there's no way MSU will take another Nine-Hundred Foot Jesus Guy. I'd bet my paycheck on the fourth. :D

Seth Davis is reporting that Oklahoma fired Capel.

That's a good gig. I won't be shocked if Cuonzo gets a look.

Cuonzo is not going anywhere....

Didn't you hear that when he took the MSU job that he wanted to just go to one place and stay for a long time....that he loved Springfield and wanted to raise his kids here....and did not want to move his kids around....

Did I miss anything that every coach says when they take a job?

It's a good gig when you have Blake Griffin. Lots of interesting developments.
