Is Hoosiers the best sports movie ever?

Postby MVCfans » March 18th, 2011, 10:54 am

I stopped at Walmart this morning (please hold your jokes) to pick up a couple of things and they had a huge display for the basketball tournament including a couple of big screens showing Hoosiers. I stood there and watched for about 5 minutes with about half a dozen other people. I could have stayed for another hour. I would probably vote for Hoosiers as the best sports movie ever made, with Field of Dreams as second.

Too many good ones to have the best ever. Could list a ton right now that anyone could make a case for

Personally, I would take Field of Dreams over Hoosiers

By far the best sports movie ever was Caddyshack. This is almost without debate. Hoosiers is a great movie, as is Tin Cup. There are many, many great sports movies out there, Rudy, Radio,Remember the Titans. I never cared too much for Field of Dreams, but I could see people loving it.

While not one of the best sports movies ever made, Happy Gilmore is a must see.

Here are a few more to ponder:
Raging Bull
One on One
The original Bad News Bears
Major League
Kingpin
The Big Lebowski
The Longest Yard
Talladega Nights
Balls of Fury

I could also make an argument for Rocky, but I'm sticking with Hoosiers.
