Can the talking heads explain 11 Big East bids now?

I bought into the notion that the Big East was the best basketball conference and was deserving of 11 bids, but after watching basketball the past 4 days I think it is quite clear that a lot of us were bamboozled by the talking heads on ESPN. What a pathetic showing. The Big East had a #1 seed, a #2 seed, and a #4 seed not making it out of the first weekend. And they were playing against teams that they should have been significantly better than based on seeding alone. And how about VCU? Good for them - it's too bad more mid-majors didn't get the same opportunity.

Next year, whem it comes to Selection Sunday, give me more mid-majors and fewer mediocre BCS teams from "power" conferences.

happens every year doesn't it? Espn gets all crazy about 1 conference and they get a grande sized amount of teams in the tourney.

Somehow the excuse that will be flung around is that the regular season is all that matters and the Big East deserved all of its bids by simply beating up on each other. Somehow, the importance of the NCAA Tournament will be downplayed by "dumb luck".

2 out of 11 is not a good percentage to send to the next weekend.

Best conference my *ss.

The only 2 Big East teams that made the Sweet 16 did so by beating other Big East teams.

Pretty funny DU.

And Digger Phelps and Jay Bilas are making me look like a prophet.

The injury excuse is being thrown around, the excuse of Villanova and G-town playing horribly down the stretch but got in because of their "entire" body of work. Yeah, tell me when a midmajor gets that benefit of the doubt. If a mid is struggling down the stretch, they get excluded because of that. They never get freaking let in based on THEIR entire body of work.

What a bunch of pathetic excuses.

The Big East is who we thought they we were: The Big Conference of Mediocrity.

This is the freaking NCAA Tournament damn it! If you can't win now, then the regular season was all a moot point. You're judged on NCAA Tournament performance. You FAILED. You SUCK.

On the pre-game, Charles Barkley (who has been badmouthing the Big East since the tournament began) said that Notre Dame would lose tonight. Rick Pitino pretty much guaranteed they'd win, and that there would be 1-2 Big East teams in the Final 4. Maybe a Big East coach isn't the most unbiased analyst.

The explanation is that the 11 were still a part of the best 68 teams in the nation this year.

Marquette, being one of the last teams in, is one of the two Big East teams in the Sweet 16...The only problem was, they didn't have a great team to make the run all the way. They were all good teams but not great.

But yes, the "talking heads" should have seen this coming from a mile away if they watched them as much as they claimed they did...

To state what DU pointed out in slightly different terms: The Big Least had exactly zero wins in the second round over teams from a conference other than its own. Out of 11 freaking bids. Unbelievable.
