2017 Outdoor NCAA track June 7-10

the east and west regional track meets are done, up next is the NCAA outdoor track and field meet out in Oregon June 7-10

The MVC had a down year as far as the number of qualifiers for the meet. We only had 14 make it this year, that is down significantly from recent years.

The meet will be on ESPN3 and other espn channels, will know more the week of the meet

MVC schools and qualifiers

Wichita State
Hunter Veith - Decathlon
Gavyn Yetter - Heptathlon
Nikki Larch-Miller - Heptathlon
Breanne Borman - Heptathlon

Indiana State
David Timlin - 1500 meters
Alethia Marrero - 800 meters
Marcus Neely - 110 meter hurdles
Taylor Austin - steeplechase

Southern Illinois
Freya Block - Hammer Throw
Warren Hazel - 400 meters
Kyle Landon - High Jump

Drake
Reid Fischer - 10,000 meters

Northern Iowa
Brandon Carnes - 100 meters

Bradley
Daniel Gagne - 1500 meters

The men kick things off tonight out in Oregon for the NCAA Track meet,

the meet starts out each day on espn3, then switches to either ESPNU, ESPN2, or ESPN later in the afternoon.

Day one for the men is complete.

Leading the way for the men were David Timlin for Indiana State and Hunter Veith for Wichita State

Timlin qualified for the finals in the men's 1500, placing 4th in his semifinal heat.

Veith is in 6th place in the Decathlon.

In the men's 100, Brandon Carnes, the top sprinter in MVC history, placed 13th in the 100 and did not make the final, 2nd team all american

Indiana State's Marcus Neely was 10th in the 110 hurdles, barely missing the finals, 2nd team all american

In the men's 10,000 Reid Fischer from Drake was 9th, barely missing out on scoring, by less than a half second, 2nd team all american

In the men's 400 Warren Hazel from Southern Illinois was 14th, 2nd team all american

also in the men's 1500 Daniel Gagne from Bradley was 15th in the semifinals, getting 2nd team all american

Tomorrow the women compete.

for the men today, Wichita State's Hunter finished 6th in the Decathlon, he was the only male competing today, it was all women today.

in the men's finals today

Indiana State's David Timlin placed 10th in the 1500 final. 2nd team all american

SIU's Kyle Landon tied for 15th in the high jump

WSU tied for 65th in the team standings,

The women end tomorrow

the meet ended today, WSU finished in a tie for 65th with 3 points.

Their time in the MVC is now officially over
