ORU to the Southland conference maybe

I know we talk about ORU as a potential MVC member, but now it looks like they'll be heading to the Southland conference soon.

This is not good news. ORU was the prime candidate to replace Creighton when they leave or someone else for that matter. I wonder why they would not wait for a Valley invite. It would seem to be on the horizon. I think that they would prefer the Valley over Southland. I am somewhat indifferent yet somewhat fascinated by this development.

Curious why the Southland is acting now too. I don't know if the Valley should contact ORU, SLU, Butler, etc just to guage interest if this is going to start an avalanche.

Oral Roberts seems to fit pretty well in the footprint of the Southland Conference and I'm sure for travel purproses this makes a lot of sense. A coup by the conference if you asked me. If ORU was indeed getting irritated by the weight the Dakota schools were pulling as well as the travel from oklahoma to North Dakota, Oakland MI, etc it's probably a good move for them.

Was ORU REALLY a candidate for the Valley? I know people mention them from time to time but they really wouldn't provide a whole lot to the conference. The only real plus I can find is the travel aspect for us.

The Southland was losing teams that are going to the WAC....They were slated to be down to 7 or 8 teams I believe.
