Sorry Sycs fans, but this made me laugh...
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - The Super Bowl in Indianapolis didn't lead to the big boost in visitors for which a western Indiana city had prepared.
The NFL last week released the 264 rooms it had booked at Terre Haute's Holiday Inn and SpringHill Suites. General manager Bill Burdine tells the Tribune-Star (http://bit.ly/yJZc8p ) that through Friday the two hotels had 14 rooms booked for pilots who were flying people to Indianapolis.
Burdine says he believes Terre Haute has few visitors because both teams are from the East Coast so most fans driving to Indiana wouldn't come through the city.
He says the company's hotels in Indianapolis, Lafayette and Kokomo are full.
The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce also scaled backed its plans to have volunteers at several hotels to greet visitors.
