ISU pick up John Jones for 2011

He will be using the scholarship that Justin Clarks departure opened up. Big time game changer for ISU with NBA potential in the future according to some journalists and coaches.
Jones has been living with Powerhouse coach Jermaine Johnson and his family since arriving to Chicago. He has also been working out with Johnson twice a day on his game.

Jones, an under-the-radar 6-8, 250-pound forward from Barbados, has committed to Illinois State. He also considered Oklahoma and Illinois-Chicago.

Although the likes of DePaul and Missouri had started to catch wind of Jones after he played in a handful of high school events in Chicago last month, most of the high-major programs interested in the big-bodied, athletic forward were eying him as a 2012 recruit.
According to one college basketball coach, Jones would have undoubtedly ended up at an elite high-major program if he had played one more year of high school.

Sounds like quite a get at this point in the summer. Is he going to push Jackie for playing time?

If healthy, Jackie will be getting 25+. He could take minutes away from Ekey, Wilkins, and Threloff though.

According to his MaxPreps profile:
13.0 ppg
61% from the field
38% FT shooter
9.4 rpg
2.4 bpg :D
1.6 spg
1.1 apg
1.7 topg
2.9 fpg

When ISU plays WSU and Jones goes in, Marshall should immediately go to Orukpe to run the set defensive play, "hack-a-john".

Forget Orupke, we actually need him to play minutes this year. Put in one of our walk-ons that can afford the fouls.

I'd make fun of his FT% except our new 6'11 kid from TX Geoff Groselle was only about 50% in HS.

This is a great get for Jank. Dinma wasn't a very good FT shooter either, but he turned out all right for us.
