Drake commitment--Kori Babineaux

Postby DUBulldog » March 16th, 2012, 9:25 pm

According to Scout, Drake got a commitment tonight from Kori Babineaux, a 6-4 guard from Lake Forest Academy. He's originally from California, and originally signed to play football in college (San Diego State), but decided to go to prep school for a year instead, and switched his focus to basketball.

Drake has no scholarships available.....wonder where the scholly is coming from.

Here's a couple articles about him

And Babineaux dribbles like a point guard, looks like a power forward and shoots like a shooting guard.

“College coaches have told me he’s college-ready right now,” said Caxys coach Matt Vaughn. “His body is ready, and his game is mature enough. They don’t look at him as a project.”

Interested colleges include Loyola, Drake, Northwestern, Oregon State, Cincinnati and St. Mary’s.

High schools that are happy Babineaux won’t play in prep games next winter include North Chicago and St. Rita.

Babineaux struck for 48 points against NC and then dropped 43 on St. Rita.

His Lebron/Kobe-esque averages for LFA’s 8-13 team: 27.6 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals.

“Kori,” Chandler said, “plays with the tenacity of a college senior. His tenacity … It’s unmatched. You watch him play, and it’s like he’s playing the last game of his life.”

I really like the last sentence in the quote above.

I know that Drake fans won't tolerate under Thursday night appearance....he's got to show improvement next season, and I think he will.
