Drake picks up 6’10 FGCU grad-Transfer Brady Ernst

Drake gets a commitment from 6’10 Brady Ernst, who originally started out at Iowa State. Big get for Drake in adding front court depth and experience.

He's an Iowa native and had quite the journey to wind up at Drake. Commits to Iowa State, plays a few games, tears acl, gets medical redshirt, transfers and goes to Indian Hills CC. Plays a year at Indian Hills and declares transfer. Commits to Xavier, decommits to Xavier and winds up at Florida Gulf Coast. Spends 2 years there with pretty low minutes. Then he grad transfers to Drake for final season.

Didn't put up big numbers for a so-so FGCU team, but his rebounds per 40 is pretty good and he shot > 60% from the field.

Drake freshman Liam Robbins is gonna be real good, but needed somebody to split minutes with him next season....and, Ernst will give him a big man to practice against every day.

I think when you looked at the Drake roster, depth down low was a real need, so this is a smart pickup. If one of the 6'7 freshman can give meaningful minutes at the 4 spot , then Drake looks to have a pretty complete rotation with adequate depth.

Probably a good pick-up for Drake to add depth and give freshman time to develop. The way Drake just kept winning despite all the injuries was really impressive. This reminded me of Altman's teams where they could endure a loss of major contributors, and their offense really reminded me of Creighton back in the day. Good news for the rest of the valley to have everyone start to elevate their game.
