For whatever the reason, it seems like Creighton and WSU keep getting into these recruiting wars. Last year the battle was for Austin Chatman and, to a lesser extent, Nevin Johnson.

With Yates in the fold, a new practice facility under construction and the rest we have to offer, I think we have a good chance. It would be nice if we could get a verbal this weekend and not even have to risk a WSU visit. The scholarship situation at both schools is pretty interesting. As noted above, CU has no scholarships available, but coach could volunteer to pay for his son, opening up another spot. WSU is either full, one or perhaps even two over already. Another signing would seem to indicate that Marshall is going to clean house after the season.

I really like the way McDermott and staff are recruiting.

Didn't Ashford have an offer from WSU also? We have definitely had the upper hand in these CU/WSU recruiting battles so far, hopefully that continues with Hawkins.

Ashford has an offer out of HS. I don't think we were after him after that.

In an article appearing in the OWH after his commitment, Ashford said that he was scheduled to visit WSU the subsequent weekend, but took Creighton's offer instead.

Fair enough. I never heard anything on him after HS regarding WSU so figured we weren't interested.

Hawkins to Creighton is just about a sure thing. He has changed his education to Creighton on Facebook.

That is predictable if true. Once Yates committed it was a matter of time IMHO. Sucks losing another recruit to Creighton, but we have a pretty darn good class next year anyway. And I am sure Marshall will pull another rabbit out of his hat before it is said and done.

I'm not fond of Marshall, but I give him a lot of respect on the recruiting front. I think he does a good job spotting talent and his teams have been pretty deep. Frankly, with the current class you guys have, I'm not really sure why you guys need to add anyone, especially if you have to run someone off to do so.

Thanks Trop for the heads up. This kid must be something if McDermott is willing to write a tuition check for his son to get Hawkins.

I agree, i hope we dont add anymore. We're out of scholarships and i reaaly don't like running kids off the team. Especially those who haven't even had a chance to play yet (ie tyler richardson).
