MSU has apparently completed their 2012/13 roster with the late addition of Bola Olaniyan, a 6'8 pf/c from Richmond HS in Indiana. The Nigerian has only played basketball for 2 years, but like similar young men , has great athleticism and upside to his game. He averaged about 14ppg and 11 rbs this past year.
With the addition of Olaniyan, the Bears will now have a roster dotted with 8 newcomers including 5 true frosh, a pair of redshirt frosh, and juco transfer pg Tevin Bracey. The Bears will be a bit undersized across the frontline this year, with Olaniyan joining 6'10 frosh Bruce Marshall, and a trio of 6'7 players in soph Christian Kirk, rs frosh Drew Wilson, and frosh Gavin Thurman.
Kirk along with seniors Anthony Downing, Jarmar Gulley, and juniors Keith Pickens and Nathan Scheer will have to provide the leadership and experience early as the Bears have a tough noncon schedule for such a young team. Gonna be a fun year but one requiring patience, as the Bears have alot of young talent. If Bracey and Dorian Williams give us good pg play, and Drew Wilson can defend and rebound from day 1[ which are his strengths], then we can be improved over last year despite the loss of Weems.
