Are you really telling me you thought UNI would shoot 60% from the field, score almost 80 points, and above all that, expect a win in that type of tempo?

You can be sarcastic all you want, but UNI didn't win with their type of game. And you know it too.

Are you suggesting that the game was played at a fast paced tempo? I don't think so. (in fact I believe that UNI had 0 fast break points, and WSU had 2) UNI played that game exactly how we wanted it to be played. We gave up more points than we would have liked, but wichita shot the ball really well, which is to be expected playing at home. Just because the game was high scoring, does not mean that the tempo favored WSU. Both teams just shot really well.

I do, however, realize that it is hard for you to give UNI credit.

I believe I've clearly stated in several posts that "I've tipped my hat to them". That would be equal to credit giving.

Maybe it wasn't up-tempo, per say, but my point about UNI scoring nearly 80 points and shooting that percentage is still valid as it clearly is not a normality. You got the win on the road. There is no shame in admitting that you may have played a lights out game out of the norm. I could easily admit that in a win. I'm confident enough in most UNI fans that most would admit this wasn't a typical offensive game for UNI.

Sounds like Shox fans think Koch should play soccer. Man I hate it when those guys cry for fouls and look like they're dying on the field only to pop up just fine and run down the field when they see a yellow card.

As for UNIs offensive outburst, doesn't the blame for that rest on the Shox defense? Seems a bit trite to make the claim that UNI normally doesn't score that many as if they shouldn't try to score or should apologize for winning. It only implies to me that the WSU defense might not be very effective.

yes UNI shot well, but I can only remember one contested three that UNI made and that was Ahelegbe at the end of the half. The others seemed to be wide open or with someone running out very late. The same goes for the pull up jumpers. Then there was the dribble drive which the Shockers couldn't seem to stop at all. UNI had a good gameplan to attack WSU and the Shockers played terrible defense. You can't complain someone having an abnormal shooting game when your team doesn't guard anyone.

WSU is a good team and It will be a great game in Cedar Falls. I hope Durley is ok, he would have been tough for UNI to stop if he got it going during the the course of the game.

Just curious, did you watch the game bigdawg?

WSU had defensive lapses and UNI took advantage of them. There were a lot of contested shots though that UNI was draining like they were at an NBA camp. Sometimes, the rare occurrence happens when a team will play pretty good D and the other team (or player(s)) will just simply "go off". I think you know what I'm talking about.

Considering WSU's defensive stats over the course of 19 games and comparing that with UNI's offensive stats, I think it's safe to say the 60% shooting by UNI was a bit of an abnormality. I think most people here that UNI wins traditionally with defense, not by outshooting teams. Hench, the 46 ppg average prior to last night in Valley road games.

It is amazing though, how UNI has had a ton of games in the last several years in which UNI guys have played the "game of their life". We must be the luckiest team in the history of college basketball.

If this is luck, then I guess I'd rather be lucky than good.

It's true. Luck is UNI's stock and trade.

UNI was so lucky against MSU and SIU that both teams hit a last second prayer to win the game. Our luck continued against ISU-blue and BU when both teams shot a season best 60% from 3 and 50% overall. Against WSU we were lucky enough to contain them to 50% from 3 and 56% inside the arc.

I just hope we're able to continue catching breaks like these. Not sure how we'd cope without them.

Sounds fairly similar to our game against New Mexico.

My God, do I have to genuflect to you and bow down before you for you to be satisfied?

Am I speaking something other than English? Is it normal for UNI to shoot 60% from the field? How many times in the last 3 years did UNI score 77 in a conference game? and on the road?

I say it's an abnormality and you guys flip out. Is scoring 77 points normal for your team or not? Is abnormality too big of a word to understand? Does that not describe what it was?

My opinion, if WSU utilizes its 10 deep squad and picks them up full court from the get go, they control the tempo that benefits them rather than Northern Iowa dictating the flow. They are masters of that. Northern Iowa had 7 usable bodies.
