The more and more I look at Syracuse, the more and more I want to drop them out. I'm not sure I can make the Illinois St > Syracuse case, given the current committee's trends, though.

This may be a year where the Committee throws a curve ball and switches focus - there are just so many bubble teams with a handful of good wins coupled with a ton of losses (including some atrocious ones)...cough, cough, Syracuse. They may try to rein in the almost exclusive focus on elite Ws and acknowledge volume and "quality" of losses this year or next to prevent the pendulum from swinging too far.

Probably wishful thinking, but they do change course every ~5-6 years and it seems like we are due for a surprise.

VA Tech, DePaul, and Washington wins would be good tonight

Pulling hard for the Hokies this evening as a loss would leave Wake Forest at 3-9 vs. the Top 50 and IMO, would slot them behind the birds in the pecking order.

I just saw this somewhere. Syracuse has never won an ACC Tournament game in their existence. Ever. That's an amazing statistic.

Va Tech does the Valley a solid by dusting the Deacons.

A win by either Washington over USC or DePaul over Xavier later tonight would make this a great night for the Redbirds' hopes. However, wins won't give the favorites in those games any boost. Sorta like most of the MVC slate.

Not the worst day for Illinois St. Everything broke their way in the ACC....it's a lot to ask for DePaul or Washington to come through.

Kansas St becomes very important on Thursday. Also everything that will happen in the Big 10, bury Iowa and Illinois before they can even think about a run.

I'm hopeful, but the Top 16 show they did last month doesn't inspire hope there. They made it clear SoS and quality wins are an emphasis, and they don't care how many chances you get at quality wins, it's the raw number that matters.

Then again, Syracuse's non-con SoS is lurking over 200, so there's hope there.

It's also why I won't mind Wake in this tournament. Non-con SoS of 17, played AT Richomnd, played AT UNC-Greensboro, played AT Charleston (in a tournament setting, but still), played Bucknell at home.
