These guys aren't doing D1 because of pure luck. You may not like some calls they make, but they aren't incompetent.

Actually, I truly believe that D1 officiating is poor across the board. There are very very few officials that are consistently good.

There also are a lot of poor teams who commit a ton of fouls and play inconsistently, causing the officiating to look worse than it really is.

I think they are slightly more competent than what you would see in HS or YMCA type games but most refs below the NBA/FIBA level are just terribly inconsistent and oftentimes just wrong.

You are truly clueless.

1. Officials at the D1 level are quite a bit more qualified than ones working high school or YMCA games, not only because of their experience, but because of their ability to handle coaches, players, and manage the game in general.

2. Are you saying that NBA officials aren't inconsistent at times? The real point is that the NBA game is officiated completely differently than the college and high school game, with very different rules. Comparing the two is apples and oranges.

I'm not saying that they don't miss calls, they do, but they miss far fewer than most of you would like to admit. Until you've actually done it, you have no idea what it is like.

In what way is it poor across the board? In watching not only Missouri State games, but other games on TV, they seem to call most D1 games pretty consistently. The post play is much cleaner than it used to be, hand checks are called quite often, etc. I thought the MSU/Creighton game on Saturday had several big missed calls, but I went back and watched the replay afterwards on ESPN2 and was amazed at how many of them were actually right. There were a couple each way that were wrong, but they evened out over the course of the game.

I take it you've done it? You see things much differently after you have and I laugh at the people who think it's easy.

With that said, there are officials I still don't like and I don't think are consistent or have too big of ego's. And there are going to be officials at every level that don't match up with thier peers.
