First, I am not submitting this as a rant or suggesting it cost us games or anything like that, I am just confused by some of these refs and wondering if it is a league wide thing.
MSU's home game with CU had a time when McDermott ran onto the floor during play at a ref, ripping his coat off looking like he was going to take the ref out. They had to stop play because of it, and yet no T was issued. The ESPN announcers even said they felt McDermott was fortunate to have not been given a T.
In the game against UNI, there was a point that the ref was on the sideline in front of the UNI bench. Ricks and Leonard were talking at mid court and were taking a long time to go throw the ball in. The ref was holding the ball out in one hand waiting, and as he reached for his whistle to blow it to get them moving, Jacobsen took the ball out of the refs hand and held it out mimicing the ref. The ref took the ball back and just looked at Jacobsen, and Jacobsen started wheeling his hands at the ref telling him to hurry it up. To me, that was like a defensive player touching the ball in the hands of an offensive player thowing the ball in. That should have just been a T for grabbing the ball, but there was no call. Again, the ESPN announcers said there should have been a T but none was given. (I am not attacking Jacobsen, he is class, but should have been Td)
That is twice in the conference play that there were obvious situations where Ts should have been called but weren't. Are these just flukes that happen to be at two MSU games, or is anyone else seeing this in other games in the conference?
