Rebound from what? You’re speculating on something that COULD happen years down the road. As of now, there’s nothing to rebound from.
And you have to understand expansion isn’t RPI-based. It’s money- and identity-based.
Putting aside that the AAC would have to one day be gutted so thin they’re making less tv money than the MVC (<1% odds):
Wichita’s President, like any institution, wants his university aligned with schools that resemble Wichita (urban, public).
Cincinnati
Memphis
Houston
Tulsa (proximity makes up for private status)
Those are the schools Wichita aspires to be or aspires to be associated with. That’s minimum 4 schools before you even reach the 1st MVC school. You can probably add a 5th in SMU (urban, established brand) despite being private. So unless all 5 are poached (won’t happen), Wichita’s closed the books on MVC forever.
You have to think like a University President. They don’t consider 10 year RPI averages like fans would.
