Salukies lose to Buffalo 62-53. Hope they play like that when they play the Aces. Buffalo is a pretty good team, but the Salukies were horrible.

On the very few occasions under Hinson when there has been a semblance of excitement among the diminishing Saluki fan base, Southern has laid huge eggs at home (vs. Wichita, Loyola, tonight vs. Buffalo). This is Year 7 for Hinson, and I challenge anyone on here to come up with even a short list of signature wins for Hinson in Carbondale. They're non-existent.
Hinson can hoodwink and backslap his way into fooling quite a few people and media types, but those who have followed the program closely are not surprised by being exposed against a quality opponent yet again. They don't call him the huckster for nothing ...

I think if Fletcher plays last night, that game might have gone different or if nothing else, been closer.

As for Hinson, there is no other way to look at him other than a disappointment. He hasn't made any postseason appearances, his overall record is barely above .500. I hope for SIU fans sake, they bail from this guy after this season. I honestly couldn't believe or understand how he kept his job for this year.

SIU was without their best player, 1st team pre-season all conference Armon Fletcher last night due to a knee injury he sustained against UK. This really hurt against a long, athletic team in Buffalo. SIU had a big lead in the 1st half and played well when Pippen was in the game. Pippen and Bol were both in foul trouble following multiple questionable calls and SIU's offense was stagnant to say the least without Pippen and an inside threat. SIU has the potential to be really good in my opinion but that is dependent upon Pippen playing at least 28-30 minutes a game and Fletcher being healthy. Also, Bol has to get his timing back. He will never be the same after multiple blown out knees. Still, he has a chance to be a good contributor if he gets some of his mojo back. Also, Aaron (you can pronounce it eron or A - Aron, Ken and Peele reference) Cook has really matured at PG and is a potential all conference player right now!

I watched most of the game and noticed the team seemed to be more fluid as a whole with Pippen on the floor. He reminds me of Fayne with less range. Bol reminded me a lot of former Redbird David N'diaye. A lot of high ball screens and rolls to the basket, and just looks kind of out of place. Not a knock on him, I said the same about David. I said in another thread, that game overall was just ugly on both sides. It seemed Buffalo and SIU just kept throwing the ball out of bounds. I do agree the refs were really inconsistent during the game on both sides. Most of the time it seemed they let the boys play but then others there were tick-tack fouls. The "push-off" called on Lloyd in the first half might be one of the worst flops I've seen since Ron Baker.

Texas State @ Bulldogs - Bulldogs
Pine Bluff @ Salukis - SIU

Barry did the dumbest thing that coaches do[ and he is certainly not alone in this] but he sat both Bol and Pippen the rest of the 1st half after they picked up a second foul. SIU lost an 8 point lead and momentum . Why some coaches persist in this insane strategy is beyond me. You get 5 for a reason, and the thing is there is no sense to it. The thinking is you don't want a player to pick up a 3rd foul early and ultimately foul out of a game and therefore be unavailable. So you make him unavailable yourself by sitting him. I was so excited to see Coach Ford didn't follow this asinine logic and has already played multiple players in the first half after they had two fouls. And you know, one even got a third and the world didn't end, because guess what, he still had two more to play with.

Especially as Rudy committed 2 TO’s and Buffalo smelled blood and attacked him inside on the other end during the 11-0 run.

Is Illinois State about to do the unthinkable and lose to Chicago State? ILS trailing by 4 with under 5 minutes to go, ugh,
