Many on Drake's board are expecting an extended suspension at minimum but personally, I'll be shocked if it's more than 1 regular season game at the most. I like the "handle it internally" as previously said as the more likely outcome.

Tell that to the dude who got shot in the head. If I "accidentally" hit someone with my car I don't think the police will be ok with that explanation. I am not calling for him to go away for life or anything, but this is not a slap on the wrist offence.

You may or may not get a traffic ticket, for which you would pay a fine, depending on whether you violated any law. Your analogy is correct though. It is like a traffic accident.

I really don't want to live in a place where a 19 year old kid can mishandle a gun, shoot someone in the head, and everyone just passes it off like someone J-Walked. Good grief.

As mentioned...he doesn't need to go to prison. He doesn't need some huge rap sheet. But can we also not just dismiss it as a nothing burger?

Weird and disturbing story. It’ll be interesting to see how DeVries handles it, and I’m sure Murphy’s approach and attitude will factor into the discipline. He’s really lucky the victim made it.

Then you don't want to live in the United States.

No matter how someone wants to spin this story, it is not good pub for The Drake. Accident or not, why does a college basketball player need a weapon like this? Will be interesting moving forward what discipline measures will be taken.

Drake parties are clearly nothing like Duke parties

I wonder if this is something most coaches have thought about and whether they have rules regarding ownership of guns by players. I'm not sure they could prevent a student from owning a gun as long as it is not on campus. As evidenced by this incident, it does seem like it may be an accident waiting to happen.

No. Just Des Moines apparently.
