I agree, that “jump ball” call against Krutwig was a joke, and Loyola should’ve won in regulation!

When did UNI turn into the fan base that complains about the refs? It was an ugly game, both teams got bounces and calls. Make free throws, take care of the ball and the officiating won’t matter.

Unfortunately, I'll have an extremely bitter taste about this one as the officiating was simply inexcusable. Obviously I'm biased but it really felt like SIU's aggressive D was allowed to get away with much more than UNI. That flagrant foul on Green from being fouled by Brown was one of the strangest and dumbest calls I've seen. I just don't understand in what world that is a flagrant when the contact and foul was 100% initiated by the other party.

If your elbow connects with a defenders chin, you can’t be surprised that gets called a flagrant, intentional or not. Green had his elbow up pretty high when he was driving and Brown was just trying to keep pace. I don’t think you can say it was 100% Brown.

Reminds me of Givance against Freeman-Liberty (?) when UE played Valpo at home. (Don't remember who the Valpo player was off the top of my head) Givance got called for a touch foul when the Valpo player drove and hit him in the face with an elbow. It drew blood, and Givance had to go to the bench to get it cleaned up, but no flagrant. Seems like a very inconsistently applied rule.

That UNI vs. Loyola game was maybe the most physical game I have ever seen, refs let them play, but were overall consistent.

Loyola with Krutwig is a top 3 Valley team, without him they would be playing on Thursday night. That is not meant to be disrespectful towards any of their other players, but everything is ran through him.

Salukis looking more and more like they won't be a PIG team. Hell, they might be challenging for a top 3 spot. Great stuff by Mullins and his team. They are going to become a real force in short order.

It'll be Evansville and Illinois State. And then two of Valpo/Indiana State/Drake/Missouri State.

Okay so we have a sweep of one PIG lock and head to head on all accept Missouri State. I like our chances if we can finish but we have done an awful job of winning on the road. I think Evansville is our only MVC road win so far this year... Also both of those games were WAY too close for comfort. This game shouldn't have been that close and that has me worried. Lickliter already has the Aces trending upward it seems.

Really? they were absolutely destroyed against Drake at home just midweek. Valpo was terrible after they built a huge lead. Evansville looks atrocious and has all valley season.

Drake was Lickliter's first game with the program and I don't think he had a full prep. Valpo was the first game he had a full prep for and they were atrocious down the stretch but they made the plays when they had to. SIU's rise has complicated our path to avoiding Thursday and we may not but the next five games are going to tell us a lot. Four of them are against teams we are within two games of two home two away: @Bradley ISUr UNI @Loyola SIU. If we do any worse than 2-3 in that stretch we are probably a Thursday team for sure. If we can punch above our weight a bit and steal one or two games especially one of the road games we'll be in good shape.

As an SIU fan I won't feel good about avoid the PIG until it is completely locked. However, even if SIU stumbles and ends up there I won't be that upset given what this season is about. Either way I am not stressed... If we beat Loyola Wednesday though the goal may go from avoid PIG to finishing top 3... MVC is crazy, who would have guessed ILL ST to be a play in team last year and Drake to win the league. I can see anyone outside of Bradley, Loyola an UNI playing Thursday.
