A "Perfect Season" concluded

We've long heard that the 1972 Dolphins share a cigar when the last undefeated NFL team loses.

In that spirit, what do you suppose Kurt Kanaskie is doing today?

I am not looking forward to playing Evansville on Thursday... Especially if JFL is not playing...

I am. Evansville is a bad joke and seems to me to be an opportunity to play our starters much less than usual. You don't go 0-18 in conference play and suddenly remember that you need to try hard in the tournament. It's not a bye, but it's as close as you can get.

I feel terrible for coach Lickliter, what an awful situation to be in. I hope he can turn that program around quickly, for the league's sake.

You're joking right? That team has been through 3 coaches and a massive controversy surrounding their first head man. It'd be a miracle if they won more than a couple of games and they have come RIDICULOUSLY close even on the road to some huge upsets that would have shaken up the MVC race. Even in our games against them This Evansville team you a fellow Valpo fan call "a joke" and "basically a bye" lost to us by a COMBINED FOUR POINTS, and one of those games needed Overtime. The other one we nearly BLEW A DOUBLE DIGIT SECOND HALF LEAD AT HOME. What does that make us? We almost freaking LOST to this "joke" team TWICE amidst all their issues. We could ABSOLUTELY lose to this team and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we did as close as those matchups have been with them. They are WAY better than an 0-18 team. They are EXTREMELY unlucky.

No one should fear playing UE in the first game of the tournament. 3 weeks ago, we hoped maybe something would click. Nothing clicked. Williams returned and the same players made the same bad plays and missed the same open shots and layups. UE juniors are getting run out the gym by MVC freshman. The defense cannot click this year. It is too late. Defense was not taught to these players over the past 2 years. They are getting outsmarted, out hustled and are slower than everyone else. Toughness was ignored in practice. Integrity and playing for the name on the front of the jersey, for each other and for yourself did not happen this year. Once again, we are saying "wait until next year". At least this time, we have a coach with some legitimate qualifications.

That says a helluva lot more about Valpo than it does Evansville.

The circumstances around why EU is awful this year does not change the fact that it’s still the easiest matchup in the Valley. I hope they get their first win against Valpo.

Yes, UE is the going to be an easy win in St. Louis but let's get one thing straight. It is UE NOT EU.

Oh man, already getting chippy about the Thursday games. This is going to be a heck of a week for this board.
