That's just cruel... Bears fans are having flashbacks.

We are due to come out on the right side of this for once.

It's a long shot. You have to keep winning, but as I mentioned, the win at the shox does not mean as much anymore because of their loss to SIU. I am willing to bet that in the next bracketology the Shox will still be the favorite to win the conference, but the Bears will not be a second team in from the valley. Too many questions about the strength of the valley.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that either the 1 or 2 seed loses their first game in St Louis. I don't think it's ever happened before and it would be a fitting end to a bumpy year in the Valey.

It amazes me that so many of the "top" teans in the MVC are now so upset with the losses to "lower" teams...and angry that this means we receive only one bid - tourney winner. What we should be upset about is that this conference should be doomed to that situtation just because there is more parity among the teams. Certainly other conferences in our position don't suffer when they have several teams who have good records, or who have a strong push near the end of the season, etc. Look across the board at the conferences who will get multi bids even with a log jam of teams in the top half, of even at 500 in their league. As a UE fan, I have watched my team fight its way up from the cellar.... I hope they keep climbing. The whole selection process needs to be altered to not penalize conferences such as ours that have more than one team standing at the top of the conference..that is what we should be lobbying for! Fairness!

And, oh yeah, GO ACES!

Its because the conference as a whole is down, and the bottom even more so. RPI really does count when it comes to quality wins and bad losses. We have few teams that offer quality wins and more that are bad losses than we had when the conference was going strong. That leaves the top teams with a smaller margin for error. We're not getting penalized for having a few teams at the top, we're being penalized for not playing/beating anyone worth a damn in the non-con. EVERY school needs to step it up and that includes those at the top of the standings now.

Good post. As a redbird fan, I really wish Elgin would re-institute a standard as far a scheduling goes. When that was taken away, look what happened to the conference. At the very least some of our teams at the bottom might luck their way into a win over a good team.

Right now it is every man for himself and unfortunately, teams like mine are taking advantage of it by scheduling as light as possible and only worrying about the conference season. Let the better teams do the hard work and lets try and beat them in conference. then we schedule light because we know we are down so that we can get some wins in the non-con to pad the resume for job security (something that all coaches in the valley probably don't take issue with = save your job when your team sucks)

I believe Elgin pulled the standard because teams were complaining. Might have had something to do with the amount of home games your school gets in the non-con or the revenue from it. Might have had something to do with coaches and their job security when their teams are going to have a down year. From a competitive basketball standpoint, we were better when we had it. Now it seems that after we dropped this, other conferences like the A10, CAA and Horizon are following that formula and having great success right now.

He may not be able to try that ever again, but I am glad he made non-con SOS a tiebreaker for in conference. Hopefully teams will come around because of it. BTW, I was told that this rule was made specifically because of Redbird scheduling.

 O.K., I get it and understand the reference. I'm guilty of being too sensitive to the authenticity of history. Actually, it was quite funny, PeKaph.

Yeah. I think that went way over his head!!

That is why our country is going to hell. There is no culture any more? 1941 is one of the everlasting hollywood classics that should be shown on some cable channel every night.

That said, 1941 was awesome! Nobody in the history of movies has flown a fighter as well as Chevy Chase did in 1941.  :) ;) :) ;) By the way, and on another note, Bill Murray was awesome in Bachelor Party.

And by the way, the Germans did bomb Pearl Harbor, I have proof:
