Who left in the field can do that? Nobody. This is a sad and terrible day for the MVC. Again all credit to Drake they were amazing today and this effort by UNI deserves nothing except this drubbing but you can't spin this as good for the conference in any way present or even future really.

I thought It was a very entertaining game, we just witnessed history. Yes it sucks that any chance of a multi-bid are gone but I think It’s a bit ridiculous acting like UNI is the only team capable of making some noise in the tournament. Yes they had the best season but they didn’t play well when it mattered most and just got destroyed. The valley is deep this year, I think multiple teams could cause some upsets.

I surely hope you're right. We're going to need them now. But it's wide open so good luck everyone! The game is changed and it's on!

Exactly, I didn't think UNI was better than Loyola, who is very capable of winning some games . Bradley gave Michigan State all they wanted and was not the conference bell cow last year. Not knowing the matchups, it's hard to project what our Tourney Champ will do, but I have confidence they'll represent the conference with a solid effort. But I'm not ready to assume UNI won't still get an at large.

Drake played really well. UNI did not. Congrats to the Bulldogs.

Spouse had to work today, so we were coming down in the morning. Now I guess we will enjoy the nice weather outside this weekend.

Any Drake fans near Iowa City want really cheap tickets? :D

I think UNI has the kind of season to be deserving of an at-large bid. But I doubt they will get one. What sucks is they are close enough to be considered and will have to wait 9 days for likely unhappy news.

Unless you happen to share my opinion that Drake has as much or more potential to be a great program than any other team in the conference. Other than Chicago, Drake is in the largest market in the Valley. Drake's campus is among the best in the Valley. Drake basketball history goes back a long way, and it is the oldest member of the Valley. With a few decent seasons Drake could lead the conference in attendance. If Drake hadn't had an incompetent athletic director and presidents who disliked sports, Drake could have been a really strong program a long time ago. We now have a president from Gonzaga who understands what a basketball program can do for a school, and an athletic director who understands that basketball is the only sport that a smallish private university can excel at and gain national notoriety from. I'm certain very few share this view, but I would gladly debate it with anybody.

When I said future I did not mean that I don't think Drake can be a great program I meant the only way we change the narrative about our conference is if we keep stacking wins and deep tournament runs. We need to do it every year and UNI was our best shot to do that this year. Therefore them bowing out and not getting an at large (It's not going to happen as much as I want it to) is really bad for the league's future. These years after the Loyola run are critical and going two straight years as a one and done one bid league is not good. It gives the selection committee a great cover to make us a one bid league permanently even if we have a team (or even teams) that are worthy of an at large bid. We can't afford to give them any more ammunition than they already have. This loss hurts the MVC in the immediate and short term.

Good game between Bradley and SIU. Congratulations on the win Braves. Drake and Bradley will be a very interesting semifinal matchup.

I missed the Valpo Evansville game, was a close one. Replacing Eville with Valpo to meet the Bulldogs in the finals.
