Also, 1 vs 8 in a lesser budget conference does not make sense in today's metric driven world. UNI fell 50 to 57 in KPI, and fell 38 to 47 in KenPom. Pretty much same for NET. #1/#2 seeds should advance to semis. That's my opinion.

I think it’s a reasonable thing to consider with the shift to NET.
But if we want to be a multi-bid league, that work needs to happen in November and December (and before with scheduling). Hoping for your champion to have a good enough resume to survive a tournament loss isn’t a winning strategy for a conference like ours. If we had gone into the season with two at-large caliber teams, it becomes more difficult for the talking heads to dismiss the Valley.
