Bears have received commit from Demarcus Sharp, a 6'4 pg from Colby JC. Really like this pickup as he can play both guard positions , and had excellent across the board stats . Averaged 16.5 ppg, 4.7 rbs, 5.6 assists, and 2.5 stls. Shot 47% fg, 44% 3 pt, and 77% ft. Had a 2.6/1 assist to turnover ratio with 179 assist . Was DPOY in his conference. From Charleston in the Mo. Boothill originally. and played 1 year at Moberly JC, then this year at Colby. Offers were from a number of midmajors like Middle Tenn. St, SEMO, Ball St., Troy, Louisianna Monroe, Coastal Carolina, among others.
With him and Skylar Wicks [ 6'6 prep pg] Bears have addressed a major weakness last year in guard play especially handlers/passers, and both are big enough to play both positions. On paper Bears still need to fill 4 spots, but could be 1-2 more as they have a player or 2 in limbo. I think so far in these signings and some of the offers we have out, Ford has adjusted his sights abit towards guys who are more fit than flash. But we still are looking to be long and athletic across the board, but with less "alpha dogs" and a few more complementary types.
Not much to get excited about these days, so any recruiting scores are something to rally around.
