AJ Green Declares for Draft

Won't hire an agent and, obviously, expects to be back but it only makes the league the league better when our best players challenge themselves and get honest evaluations.

He joins JFL in making the decision.

I'd love to see Krutwig and Key do the same thing.

Alize Johnson did the same thing several years ago after his junior season. Didn't hire an agent but worked out for several NBA teams. Then came back to MSU for his senior season. Probably a good idea.

JFL has done the same thing. None of us are terribly concerned about the notion that he might end up leaving this year. We think he's just trying to get some advice on what to work on in order to get drafted eventually. That is a good thing and he should absolutely do it. It's in his best interest. Same story for A.J. Green. He'll be back. He's not going anywhere.

A good way for him to get feedback on what he needs to do to improve his chances next year.

I think one thing in a lot of these cases that probably bears watching , is even if they aren't likely to get drafted or have a reasonable shot at the NBA now, do they want to sit a year. If there ends up being no college season but other professional league options are there for sometime over the winter/spring, then what do they think is in their best interests going forward. Hopefully that won't be the case, but again, it could impact decisions if it comes to pass.

There's no way the NCAA is passing on that sweet, sweet CBS/Turner money two years in a row. Even if they have to shift the schedule to January-May, that tournament is happening next year.

I honestly think that the NBA is permanently going to switch to a Christmas Day to August calendar with the Draft the Tuesday after NFL opening weekend going forward. They're way better off going against baseball in the spring and summer than going against the NFL in Nov/Dec.

Yeah, I think there will be games to. More universities are talking about ways they can open in the fall and the low risk to young people . But that all is predicated on things continuing to dwindle , if another surge would hit , who knows what things will look like. But if schools are open, I can't see them trying to play games in empty stadiums because we're talking almost 2 years before there's a vaccine . Pro sports might be able to exist on tv revenue, but I don't see how college sports can. In the end, if things are relatively diminished as far as the extent of the virus overall, I think it's just going to be us older people are going to be told enjoy at your own risk if you want to attend events.

Wow this could not have aged more poorly. This one hurt and the timing could not be worse just as we were beginning to get our legs under us a bit in the MVC. We should have been on our guard, considering he tried to transfer last year; but many of us genuinely thought the program had shown enough to keep him around. I guess not.

Any updates on this? Has A.J. Green withdrawn his name yet? When is the deadline to withdraw now that COVID changed everything?
