It took awhile but the WSU administration did the right thing here and deserve credit... They are a great program and very well supported and funded. They will find another great coach and be just fine.

It's a move that the school had to make and it wIll be interesting to see what direction WSU goes now. In light of everything going on - Covid, Marshall, UCONN leaving, you have to wonder how excited Wichita State is to be in the AAC going forward.

Sounds like he will be allowed to resign, which legally protects WSU. But he can go find another job...

That is an interesting take.

They've struggled some since joining the AAC. Joined because of UCONN and Cinci. UCONN is now gone. Cinci still wants out. They don't get TV money (any?) because they don't play football. The coach that got them the invite to the AAC is now gone.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens. I can't imagine they have the cash to splash to go after a big name coach - though I've seen Matta (but he turned down UGA).

Covid money issues everyone is facing. Koch and the university have had tensions over political issues as well this year. Could be real interesting to watch play out.

Cheating is one thing (see Pitino), but physical abuse is another... Good luck to the next school that wants to hire Gregggggg. No high caliber recruit is going to want to play for a coach who assaults players. I think Wichita State was smart enough to see that. If they thought Marshall could keep recruiting well, and continue on their winning ways, they would have found a way to keep him. I have no faith in the NCAA, but I believe Gregg should at least have a 5 year or more Show/Cause attached to him.

WSU is in a better conference now, but I wonder if it has been beneficial to them financially or in any other way.

As someone wonderfully put on the Redbird Fan forum, "Gregg will probably send them to the monitor to review the outcome..."

I think this takes him out of college basketball for a bit. Someone mentioned Pitino and though the circumstances were different, I could see a similar path. Marshall heading overseas to take a job then return to coach at Independence CC before returning to glory at Wichita State.

There were reports that all the big money donars in Wichita were wanting to retain Marshall no matter what. It's refreshing that didn't happen and they did the right thing.

Hopped onto shockernet for a few minutes. There was an unverified report there that he pitched a fit when he was told the news and was then escorted off campus. If true that's really not surprising to anyone that watched some of his sideline antics over the years.

WSU will find a good coach but I bet it takes them a few years to be relevant again.

Sounds like our current outgoing President and Marshall have temper tantrums in common
