No. they would beat each other which would get us back to one.

I'm not so sure about that. We'd be talking about UNI as a middle pack team with Missouri State/Indiana State rather than a Thursday team. But UNI lost by 15 and 42 to Loyola...as talented as AJ is, he is not closing that gap.

Throw in Kimmons and actually having PG play and it's totally different.

Anyway, glad for the league. Feels good to be in the conversation again. The Valley and Mountain West have always been better than the A10, we just have that pesky problem of not being located on the east coast and not having 6 bottom feeders that the rest of us get to beat up on...

And not to derail the thread too much, but I think next year looks really bright too for a few teams. If DeVries stays around and AJ comes back healthy, the battle for Iowa will be intense.

:+1: keeping DeVries could be a challenge, Cyclones are in desperate need of a real Coach.

Isn't his son Tucker committed to Drake? I guess he could just follow his dad if he got another job but that has to mean something.

Interesting to note that in years past the best team in the Valley and the worst team have come from Iowa. Looks like it's happening again with the teams reversed.

As a Redbird fan trying to make himself feel better, I wouldn't say Drake played poorly on Sunday.

Follow this link https://www.haslametrics.com/ratings2.php?yr=&tid=4385

Scroll down to where it shows "best games" and "worst games". It shows that Drake's game against ISU on Sunday was not only their worst of the season, but it was the worst by an incredible amount. I guess I'd define that as playing poorly. I guess it all depends what the norm is.

I know Drake's working on a new deal, but no doubt DeVries will take every meeting he gets this offseason, if nothing else to drive his price up. I’m sure Moser’s going to get a swell of interest as well. But for Devries it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to potentially hand pick from a couple jobs with his son.

For what it's worth (maybe nothing), here is a hearsay quote attributed to Darian by Dolph Pulliam. And Dolph certainly isn't a liar:

So, Pulliam had a question for DeVries:

Are you going to hang with us when big opportunities come?

He couldn't have asked for a better response.

"'Dolph,'" Pulliam told the Register this week, recalling how DeVries answered, "'this is where I want to be. I have been waiting for an opportunity like this, and it finally came. If I won the NCAA championship this year (2018), I know that other schools will be talking to me. But this is where I want to be. And I’m going to stay here.'"

https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story ... 141555001/

I do think its important to note that Darian was an assistant at Creighton for TWENTY years before moving on to the right opportunity. That just doesn't happen. I don't think its crazy to think that Darian could be in Des Moines for a while.
