I don’t always trust players when they tell you who recruited them and “offered” them.

Howell was a 6.5 PPG scorer at UC San Diego. Bradley fans see him as a rotation piece and not a needle mover. A solid guy to have on the roster - an older, established, pass first PG but he isn’t going to be a game changer.

Pretty much how I saw his pickup; probably smart move, but only if the other pieces are there for him to complement. Bradley should still have a solid frontline with depth, but will they have the perimeter and wing play necessary to challenge for the top half ?

It's been a few years since we've had consistently strong point guard play ourselves. I hope (and believe) we've solved that issue this year and beyond but after what we've seen at the position the past few years a smart pass first PG would be pretty good to me as a Valpo fan especially if he can knock down at least the occasional outside shot. But you're right with pass first PGs it is often important who the players are around them unless they are like Nash\Stockton level and can make literally anybody look good.

Good breakdown. The frontcourt players for Bradley are good enough to be a top tier MVC team. The back court is anything but. That has been an overall bugaboo for this coaching staff - finding good guard play. Still four rides to give this spring. Let's see what they come up with.

Daniel Sackey had a lot of PG tools - but his complete inability to make a shot outside of five feet was something he couldn't overcome. I know fans fall in love with that traditional "pass first PG" but the good ones also are solid enough shooters they can't be left alone. I'm not sure where Mikey Howell falls in this. He just never shot much at UCSD.

So did Nyjah White as a grad transfer, but the Petree one is huge. Interestingly, her sister didn't enter, but in some ways that makes sense as she isn't likely to draw similar offers , and she plays the same position. It makes sense for her to stay as she plays a similar position as her sister and the returning Haack, and I felt was a little held back as a result. This comes on a day when Bradley had just gotten a little size with a Texas Tech and a juco transfer , both 6'2. As always, doesn't mean Petree is gone, but not a good thing right now for Bradley.

I had wondered about Petree. Especially since Gabi Haack said she was coming back. On that note - is there a website that tracks WBB transfers like there are for the men? Where did you see this information?

Lasha Petree is an amazing player in many ways. She would also be very difficult to play with as a teammate. That said - as a Bradley fan I hope she returns.

Tribe, here's a good site for lot's of wbb news, recruiting, transfers etc: wbbblog.com. Click on the transfer icon at top and it will give you a list by team in alphabetical order of wbb players in the portal.

Will continue any additional discussion on this back on the Women's board.

I think I saw Howell was in the high 30's as far as 3 point percentage, so he can at least make that shot (although he didn't shoot many). It can't be any worse than Antonio Thomas who did not make a 3 point shot in his 2 years at Bradley.

Sy Chatman returning to Illinois State and they've Mark Freeman added a transfer PG from Tenn State who averaged 17 ppg last year. 3 years of eligibility for Freeman.

Chatman returning is interesting. His only reported offer since hitting the portal was McNeese State. Hope he can get out of his own way. He showed some flashes in limited action last season.
