SIU could just as easily have won that game. Bulldogs were lucky. Drake played a horrible second half, and I'm sure SIU defense had something to do with that. I think it took seven minutes for the Bulldogs to score their first second half point. for what he's got on the floor, I think Mullins is doing pretty well.

I don't think that's the problem. They just don't have good enough offensive players right now. Domask is great and then everyone else is inconsistent. Lance Jones has been battling turf toe but you need more than 2 consistent scorers.

They kind of go hand in hand don't they?

I'm curious who you're a fan of. I've noticed the trolling of SIU for years from you, well before I joined this board.

I guess nobody in the league cares about what Loyola does anymore, even teams they're playing against.

The #22 Ramblers beat Evansville on the road,77-48, for their tenth straight victory. Loyola shot 62.8% from the field and held the Aces to 32.7% shooting.

Despite the outward indifference from the MVC side, I'm going to really miss the midwestern driving trips to different opposing arenas. It seems like MVC teams don't care much about us leaving, which is fine-- I understand. About 40% of the fans in the MVC by my reckoning didn't want us to be allowed in the league, and yet about 80% were in favor of Valpo coming in.... So you've got your wish and millions in leftover NCAA shares that Loyola gives up by departing.

Everyone was happy when we left the Horizon-- including Valpo, who thought we were dragging that conference down before they joyfully left it to join us in the MVC. Despite how indifferent MVC fans feel about Loyola leaving, the Loyola fans will feel a real loss at leaving your conference. But all those things underscore why the A-10 is a better conference for us-- you hate us and always have (even before we were in the conference), you dislike our approach to college basketball, you don't like that we have a healthy relationship between athletics and academics, you've created a euphemism hatred bag for us (too Northern, too urban, too liberal, too Illinois-connected), and the majority of MVC team fandoms don't understand how we live or what we think (even though most try to re-create how we live when they go on vacation).

But NEVERTHELESS, I think I can speak for almost every Loyola fan in saying we're grateful for our time in the MVC, we mostly love the other folks from the MVC, we deeply value the midwestern roots and DNA of the MVC, and we hope that we can continue a spirited rivalry with MVC teams.

Nobody in the league cares about what who does anymore?

Yes, people wanted a good team to join the MVC (Valpo, 28-6, 30-7, 24-9) and not a middling team (Loyola 16-15, 7-23, 15-16). Would the A-10 now want Valpo?

I have never heard anyone complain about what you brought up in the 2nd half of your 4th paragraph except for maybe too urban because most of the other schools are college towns.

I wouldn't take the silence from our fans as any sign of disrespect. I think I can safely say we are just too damn depressed to even post. What should I say? We won the first 8 minutes? We had some girls do a nice halftime performance? The beer was cold at the Ford Center? Traffic was light leaving downtown because no one was there? There used to be quite a few Aces fans on here....we're simply spent.

I had no problem with Loyola joining the league. Of course, I am an old fart, and I remember you guys were really our first rival in the MCC. Dick Walters - Gene Sullivan, you guys had Darius Clemmons and of course Alfrederick Hughes, and we were countering with Brad Leaf and Theren Bullock. I remember Clemmons used to rile up the crowd at Roberts Stadium. Quite the character.

I wish you guys were staying. Your program with Belmont and Murray in the league would certainly put us ahead of the A-10. I have no ill will towards Loyola. I only wish we could have given you a rivalry while you were here. Of course, seeing the long suffering you guys and Butler went through before turning it around should give us hope that somehow, we too can climb out of this nightmare.

I’m just curious what you expect. Nobody wants to see Loyola leave, but we’re not going to throw a funeral parade for them. The existing member schools are excited about two huge adds and the possibility of a Chicago replacement with upside. The league is arguably the strongest it’s ever been and we are all looking forward to the future. Unfortunately that doesn’t include Loyola.

With the Belmont and Murray adds, the move to the A10 seems like either a lateral move or a marginal step up, but time will tell. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Wichita is 0-4 in conference right now. Tied for last place. Flying all sports all over the country to have their flagship basketball team lose all their games. I bet it’s pretty humbling.

I would hate to see any school leave our conference, and I hate to see Loyola go (I was on Team Add Loyola, ftw), but we have a lot to look forward to.

I think you're misreading the situation. First, I haven't seen many post from Loyola fans here recently so, it's like they forgot about the MVC. Please feel free to post how your season is going and initiate conversation. Second, a vast majority of us respect what Loyola has done in/for the MVC which is why there is a near absence of negative post about Loyola. Think of it this way, when Wichita left, yes, there were lots of post but, they were largely arguments and fights.

Look, I have nothing but respect for Loyola. Their fanbase took a lot of s*** when they joined (a good chunk of that was from Wichita) but generally you guys took it well. Then your team got better and became the leader the last couple of years and your fan base stayed cool, so yeah, nothing but respect. But, like somebody else said, "What do you expect?" for fans of other teams to post about the Ramblers for them? Just saying.

I don't think it has anything to do with Loyola specifically. We've all just been around long enough to see 'top' teams go and the league has been just fine in replacing and continuing just as we always have. Rational people understand that this is an institutional move in which athletics was only a part of the decision. We know we can't offer a bunch of urban Jesuit schools with the same profile. Also, none of us are sitting on, literally, billions of dollars worth of real estate. This isn't a Wichita move where everyone can see that it was a trainwreck waiting to happen with the league they were going into.
