Licklitter and his staff have the team executing and playing well. 27% from the field. 26% from 3. Held Bradley to only 50% from field and 3. Only outrebounded by 23. Team is gearing up to make a strong run down the stretch in MVC play. Should finish a solid 10th. Going to be exciting to watch the rest of the season.

Go Aces!

Odd question... Have they been remotely competent and competitive since Jim Crews was there?

After Crews, we had Merfeld. Not competitive. Then came Marty Simmons. In 11 years, he had 3 20 win seasons. The 2015-16 team was deserving of an NIT bid. The team played hard, was decent defensively and usually had the league's leading scoring. But they could not get over the hump. In my opinion, during his last years at UE, he overplayed his son at the expense of better players. This is a no no for potential recruits. After Simmons, McCarty and Licklitter. When McCarty left, the best players left. Licklitter has been stuck with left over Simmons and McCarty players. Why he still gives them the most minutes, I will never know. Why he didn't pick up transfers last year, I will never know. The weaknesses this year are the same as last year. Plus they added one: 31% shooting from 3 as opposed to 40.7% last year.

Yes, under Simmons, they were remotely competitive. I am not saying I want him back. I don't. But we sure would enjoy being remotely competitive again one day.

Bringing Frederking and Kuhlmann back was a mistake. They can't play and it's wasted minutes on guys who provide no value now or the future. The two best players are seniors who for sure won't be back.

That said - I don't see much in the younger guys either.

That program is a total mess. Total mess.

The Twitter is saying Lickliter is stepping down immediately.

The AD needs to go with him. That entire department is finishing last in everything. Tear it down and start over.

They'll get candidates because it's a Valley job but it's going to take a Herculean effort to get even to respectable.

Are these legitimate sources, or the same ones that had you convinced Arlington was in and Murray was out? I hope you're right, but I have heard nothing that would confirm it.

The AD absolutely must go. It has been widely discussed that his contract expires at the end of the school year. He is completely out of sight, and has been for some time. His actions are clearly just mailing it in this year. We could go post after post of the idiotic things he has done, but since the McCarty disaster, he panicked and hired Lickliter, instead of doing a national search at the end of the season. He has moved all weeknight games to 6:00, which knocks out just about anyone with a job or family, and has refused to have the pep band at the games. He has told people that today's crowds don't want that kind of music. He is completely out of touch, and has an ego that has turned off many community boosters and fans.

I don't know about herculean. With the right people, our resources and facilities should allow us to run with anyone in the league...but you have to have the right people. They will have to get it 100% right with both the AD and coach hire this time. On Monday, a 10K student school across town is going to vote on going D-1. It is pretty much confirmed they are, and will be in the OVC next year. If they hit the ground running, and UE continues to stagnate, it could get pretty ugly. Evansville can support two D-1 programs, but one can't be winning while the other mailing it in every year.

The tweet was from @CoachingChanges and they've got a pretty good track record. Run by a group of old DOBOs and Assistants that have stayed connected through shoe companies.

And it absolutely would have been Arlington if Loyola stayed. :D
