I have no horse in the MSU/ISUB discussion, but I will say that while Prim is certainly more skilled than anyone ISUB could run at him, the officiating was horrendous. There were multiple times where a foul was called and no one touched Prim, and Prim got away with A LOT on D. Which is a shame because Prim is so talented he doesn’t need the help.

I’m ready for the gnashing of teeth to follow, but that was a great game, and it was sad the officiating took some off the shine off of an otherwise tremendous performance. He would have scored 30 regardless. But the NCAA has ruined the game with so many ticky tack fouls that nights like last can happen. These kids couldn’t play the game of 40 years ago, because the offensive player wasn’t protected from a whoosh of air like they are today.

Sorry, that got into a rant. Rant over.

No gnashing of teeth, you either have guys who can play physical in the post or you don't, because it's physical nightly. Some nights you get the calls, some nights you don't. We all know different officiating crews call it different, so you either adjust to that crew and that night, or you whine about it after you lose. No problem with fans doing that, we all do; just thought it was unprofessional for a beat writer to cry about it on social media. I'm never much moved by the supposed objectivity of someone who tries to hide their bias behind an initial compliment, but then gets to their agenda of dissing the performance of a player .

I think the argument lies somewhere in the middle here. Bears fans have been pretty upset because Prim and Mosley in particular are both fouled on nearly every possession, and there is so much that goes uncalled.

Early in the game last night Prim was just getting abused physically, by Simon Wilbar in particular, and nothing was being called. Wilbar was using his lower half, getting underneath Prim, and shoving him out of the lane. And after they called stuff it often wasn't until Prim fell on the floor or got knocked completely off balance that it was actually called. On the play against Drake that people talk about (where Clay threw the ball to himself), watch the replay. Roman Penn is pulling Prim down by the arm the whole time Clay is trying to pass it to him (or at the very least, holding him).

Ford got a technical last night. Prim started to get some ticky tack calls (with some obvious calls mixed in too).

I don't know that they're fouled anymore than other top players; it's part of the package of being an elite type player. Prim's a below the rim , old school, physical post player; his game is all about carving out space and getting the right angles down low. He takes contact, he gives contact; some nights he can't buy a call, last night the officials saw it his way more. Moseley on the other hand is a finesse guy with a trim build, so teams grab him and push him and try to take away his freedom of movement before he touches it. I think a lot of opposing fans tend to focus on what happens once he has the ball, not recognizing the amount of contact happening while he tries to get free. Again, I'm sure guys like Green/Reed get similar. You live with it nightly and it's just basketball. Just can't abide the whining when the calls even out some. ISU fans say it's statistically impossible for Prim to have drawn 17 fouls and shoot 21 fts, but is it even more so to think the rest of the Bears despite not shooting that many treys, would only shoot 1. The answer is not if you watched the game and understand how both coaches attacked the other teams defenses. ISU shot 29 treys and their post took 8; they mostly shot treys and posted up their wings, Prim really wasn't involved in defending on the blocks that much , so he only had a couple fouls. Bears went inside almost exclusively for long stretches , players like Black and Clay didn't take many shots or even score, Mosley only took 8 shots, 5 very early in the 1st half. Prim got the ball alot, he forced the action, and he got the calls .

I didn't see the game, but I just have an incredibly hard time imagining this is true. Abused? By Simon Wilbar? Really?

Prim is 6-9 235, Wilbar is 6-11 235. Almost anybody can push another player around on a basketball court if thats what you're trying to do. You might, of course, get called for some fouls.

Drake will defeat Evansville tonight. Probably by 30+.

I've got half a mind to go through the record books to find the all-time MVC blowouts in Aces history. This season surely adds a few new entries.

There are some tweets of an allegedly deleted UE post saying Lickliter has resigned.
They showed the University president at the game tonight, could it be real?

Yes. Every other team in the league thinks Gaige Prim is a dirty player but, yes, the MSU fans are the ones in the right here.

He's a damn good player. He's also dirty. Both things can be true.
